Status: offline 		So, no sleeping on the floor, eating off of paper and plates off the floor beside the table instead of with the owner, limited use of the furniture that sort of thing? (copped from a list A domme gave me recently) It's very interesting to hear the varied concepts we all have about slavery. For whatever reason, the decision to commit to full enslavement in my experience is based more on the emotional bond between owner and propety then it is on the practical expectations.

Status: offline 		To dedicate yourself to slavery do not mean you have to live miserably. To eat of the floor and such might apeal to some but not to all, and they are no less dedicated for it. And while there are usualy strong enotial bonds and the realtionship may be based on it, belive you me, if somone are treated miserably (andy they do not like being treated miserably) that realtiohsip will not last that long, at least not willingly, or in most cases.

I need to throw in 2c here, that's slightly off the topic.

While I disagree with just about everything Raven says, I'm getting tired of seeing criticism of what he says jumping striaght to "well, he's a Gorean and Gor is based on fiction."

Everyone here pretty much knows I'm not really down with Gor and its basic beliefs as I understand them, but it seems like a lot of the effectivness of disagreement is being lost in jumping, right away, on the "well, you base your life on FICTION" argument.

I dunno, it just seems like that's the easy part to disagree with, y'know? I'd rather disagree with what he says, dirrectly, as opposed to the philosophy that backs it.

That said.

We -are- equal. Period. My status as my owner's property does not negate my humanity, and my belonging to him places me under -his- foot, not anyone elses.

Gorean is a nice lifestyle, i am curious aboute Goreans, i like Goreans, that do not mean i can not make a little joke on Raven`s expense on how the quted it.

I wasn't dirrected at you, you didn't really pull the "ficitonal novel" thing, just sort of a general thought, though.

Well IMO this isn't a place to whine or get pissy because you aren't getting the responses you want...though it seems others disagree on an almost weekly basis.

If people want to discuss something productive about their experiences, that's one thing. But to me this just seemed like a personal foot-stomping rant and while I know how to handle that in my 4 year old nephew, I'm at a loss when an adult does it.

Because it baffles me. It certainly doesn't BOTHER me, I had an honest question and asked it- why do people feel it's a good productive thing to post such publicly ranting tantrums?

It won't STOP the responses the people are getting. Trust me, if people could find a way to zap all unwanted or irrelevent emails before they reached your inbox, they would.

It shows that the person is allowing their emotions to be controlled by something as easily as emails, which for me is NOT a desireable trait. It shows that the person feels a need to pull a public tantrum which, IMO, tends to make the POSTER look less competent, rather than doing anything about what they are ranting on.

I certainly don't expect the rants to stop, like I said they seem to show up every week or so. (You'd think the fact that they kept showing up would be SOME clue that ranting about it won't help anything). But it was an honest question because I can't see any point in posting a personal tantrum in a public discussion forum.

Hon, it was NOT a "tantrum"! Believe me, when I throw a tizzy EVERYONE will be able to identify it as such. it was humour and observation. If the original post bothered you, I regret that. I had no such intention. I was going for the "Ha ha ha... ouch!" response. While a great many of My posts are very dead-level serious stuff, I am also (sort of) capable of humour and satire and that was the intent there.

As for personal grievances, I strongly believe that they belong OFFline. If I have a beef with someone specific I take it to them and we talk it out. The post wasn't directed *at* anyone.

Status: offline 		i rant from time to time to, it is a good way to get things out of your system, and somtimes you like to talk whit others aboute lifestyle related things, no matter how uninportant to most, that bother you. i belived the forum was for that to. i belived the forum was for pepole whit intrests whitin BDSM, D/s, kink and so on to meet and discuss, and ranting is definitly one of the way pepole talk aboute things.

Raven, ok, let me try to explain why pepole got bent out of shape by your coment. What you said, basicaly, and perhaps you did not mean it like that, but it did sound like it, was that Emerald should not be aloved to ask her question becouse she is a slave. It sounded like you would like for every submissive woman on this forum to behave like the slave girls in the Gorean books, restricting our freedom of participating in the forums debate. And that got a few a bit pissed.

And you are entitled to your opinion just as she is to hers. While you may find her post whiney and pissy, others found it funny and/or interesting. I am not sure why you had to proclaim what these posts should be written about.
