Awww, thanks for not making me feel like such a freak...I don't clean other people's houses, but I have to admit I secretly "white glove" them. I am sooooo bad. When I go to other people's houses, I do as much of the following that I can without being totally obvious:

Swipe the tops of lightbulbs to see if there's dust
Inspect baseboards for dust
Check doors for grime
Check bathroom floor for hair...sooooo gross
Check BEHIND faucets to see if there's algae/mold/mildew
See if the microwave or other appliances have fingerprints on them.

It's like this compulsive irresitable force.

I really try not to judge other people's cleaning habits, but sometimes I can't help it, but one thing I have learned to accept is that not everyone has the same (unrealistic) standards as me.

People like you crack me up, there is medication for your issues you know. I shouldn't make light of it, but being irresistibly drawn to critique other people's homes sounds a little OCD-ish. I guess I am too self absorbed to give a rat's ass about stuff like this, which is a different sort of neurosis.

I take medication for anxiety and it does pretty much curb my OCD impulses. I used to be terrified to drive on the freeway and wouldn't go to movie theatres...some other weird stuff, and now I have managed to eliminate most of my public "quirks". I do have a few rituals out in public like I can only touch elevator buttons with the knuckle of my left middle finger, and I use my grocery shopping list to open freezer handle doors in the grocery store, and I try to make other people touch doors so I don't have to.

I'm managing the compulsive cleaning though- for instance, I just did my daily door handle/phone/computer sanitizing thing, and now I am taking a break. I take breaks in between tasks so I don't become overly consumed.

I'm wierd, I know. Oh well, I guess having a compulsion to clean is better than having a compulsion to count or something. At least mine's productive! [:)]

Wow.... I have to admit that even though I feel I keep a clean house, if someone came to visit me and I saw them do any of those things they would be shown the door. If you come to visit ME, it better be to see ME, not to critique my housekeeping.

Oh, I NEVER let people know I do it, because I know it's horribly rude, and I really try to control it. I would never critique somebody's housekeeping. Like I said I know my standards are UNREALISTIC and abnormal, so I see other people as "normal" and me as the person with a problem.

I have anxiety issues and a phobia... we can trade neurosis lists[:D]

Hopefully you took my post the way it was intended... I can laugh at my issues now, but they are not always so funny when I cannot breathe and I am literally pacing the floors....

I know you were poking fun in a nice way. We need to laugh at our quirks sometimes. I can totally relate on the panic attack thing. I used to get them where they would last for days on end when I lived in Texas. I have a fear of Tornadoes, and a fear of germs. I haven't had a panic attack in close to two years now, so I happily take the cleaning compulsion over the panic attacks, and the fact that I no longer live in an area prone to tornadoes! I'll take an earthquake or wildfire any day over a tornado!

Master has to have  homemade from scratch pizza at least twice a month and it has to be on Fridays. Alternative Fridays are fish nights. Sundays are chicken and potatoes. It doesn't matter how it is prepared. Also, he has to have his t-shirts, socks and underwear folded a specific way and in the drawer in order. Freshly laundered clothing gets put on the bottom, so the clothing in the drawer the longest is used first.. [:D]

So where are the control issues in that?  I don't get it?

Try folding his clothes in a different way or rearranging the drawers so things are not in the same exact spot in the drawer. I havent heard of anyone rotating their clothing either..its an OCD thing. I have failed to do this and he pitched a fit! lol

I like to rotate clothes, and I definitely am not OCD. I even like to rotate my Daddy's clothes. I do not lose sleep over clothes that have not been rotated though

not being able to accept change from the cashier without stopping to put the bills back in one's wallet and arranging them sequentially and all facing the same direction

What, everyone doesn't do this?

Ones on the left, sequentially higher moving to the right, all the bills facing to the left and upright.  Quarters in My left pocket, all other change in the right.

Gotta be normal [;)]

Haha I don't know what "normal" is or whether aspiring to be it is a good idea, but I think the change thing is cute.

Growling at people who are five minutes late for an appointment/meeting/date (That's me)

I'm the control freak in our relationship.  Odd since I'm also the sub/bottom/lg.

But I am in control of the money, and I flip out if he spends a penny without telling me (leftovers from our years of living hand to mouth and having that penny make the difference between food and a bounced check).  I don't like it when people move the furnture in our house.  If someone touches something of mine, and its not where I left it, I spaz.  If someone eats the last of something...

The toilet paper has to face the right way.

But if its mine, and been identified as mine, and you touch it or change it in any way...yeah.  I have anxiety and panic, and basically give myself an ulcer.

This post is meant to be light-hearted and is prompted by another more serious post. However, it reminded me of some humorous characteristics I have noticed in several Doms that I know that clearly demonstrate what I rather affectionately refer to as being a control freak. The two examples I used previously are not being able to accept change from the cashier without stopping to put the bills back in one's wallet and arranging them sequentially and all facing the same direction and stopping the action during sex to pick up the clothes and fold them before continuing.

I'd like to hear any humorous thoughts or other behaviors anyone has about their partners or themselves.

I'm not really sure if anyone would call me a control freak (Maybe they would, I don't think of myself as one offhand though), but I always have to make sure the bills in my wallet are sequential, face forward, and right size up.

So, fnord.

Heh.

Not only can food not touch, it cannot get its nasty food juice in the other food either! ~grossed out completely~

Is it okay if I move away from the cashier before arranging my money?  [:D]

I rotate the towels...but I have an excuse...honest!

I just want to, someday, maybe, be able to wash them without the colour running...so I try to get them all sufficiently used and washed.

Yeah, but one of my exes didn't....I would say "hon there's people behind us".  And how about actually IRONING the towels....personally I've never seen a towel that I thought needed it, but I had a bf that ironed his kitchen towels regardless of whether they were wrinkled or not.
