No snow, but during our evening walk on the beach of Redondo yesterday we were confronted by 10-15 foot waves and we almost needed a sweater. Scary!

Yeah, I was reading (from Ohio!) that Swami's was getting 10 footers.  I used to drive to work along that stretch o' coast.  Had to consult a tide calendar before I'd leave the house.

We have 2-4 fresh inches near Dayton.

I think the NorthEast is going to see a lot of snow this year.
We will see, fasten your seatbelts, it is going to be a bumpy ride.

Please, MzMia, NO!!!!  I am not far from DC and HATE the snow!!!  Especially when I have to, gasp, go out in it!
LVpet

Well LVPet, depending on where you live it was not too bad.
I hope you survived it.

It has snowed twice in my lifetime on the Southern California coast.

While it might happen, I am not holding my breath.

We have snow in the mountains if that counts. But here closer to the city we have snow, then it tends to melt the next day.  [:)]

Chiming in from central Iowa here. We had 5 inches of snow the day before Thanksgiving then it all melted. Last weekend get got a couple inches of icy/sleety/slushy/rain crap that is almost all melted. Tomorrow we are expecting up to 5 inches then a break on Friday. Saturday and Sunday more the the wintery mix shit, expected accumulation of up to 12 inches. And the forecast says snow through next Wednesday. I swear we have some of the weirdest weather here. How it hits, where it hits. The whole pattern is just odd.

Well the snow has come and gone, the temps are below freezing.
Cars are skidding, and I expect schools to be delayed or closed tomorrow.
Can you say "SNOW DAY"?
Snow is not usually the problem, it is the ice that is so deadly.

We have a snow day here today.  We were forecast for 3-5 late tonight.  It started about 5am.  We now have 5 inches on the ground and it is snowing steadily...pretty big wet flakes.
Its beautiful and at this point in my life I wouldn't change it for the world.  The only thing I miss about the mountains is the mountains.  I still own a cabin in Lake Arrowhead in So Cal...and luckily it has been missed by the fires.  Used to own a condo at the beach...while it was my favorite place to be in high school I quickly out grew it for the solitude of mountains.  Less inhabited is better.
I will be outside with the snowblower later today.

We had 6" of snow east of Seattle and about 3' in the mountaians last weekend, then on Monday we had a "pineapple express" bringing record rainfall, over 10" of rain in some areas, and also warming in the mountains, which led to serious flooding in a lot of areas.  I-5 is still closed in the Centralia area of WA.  They are saying we may get more snow next week.[:o]

Gardenista -> RE: Waiting for our first snow, who already has it? (12/6/2007 8:24:25 AM)

We already got our inches here in NE Ohio. =) People have been griping about it like crazy, but I'm pretty blissful.

Here's a few facts abut snow in the NE area of the country: the amount of snow we get here in our temperate wet climate has a DIRECT result on the water table. There is such a thing as winter drought, which after a while could end up with us paying outrageous prices for veggies in the summer.

Snow functions as an insulator for many types of perennials during the winter, including spring-blooming bulbs. And because snow eventually melts, the moisture helps break down old dead vegetation and leaves, helping to create wonderful compost and rich loam.

At least here in the NE, we need a certain amount of snow to sustain our ecology. So, hey, I'm all for it. Besides, it's pretty. =)

He and Alandra got their first snow in November, which was actually a little later than normal if I remember correctly.

I am not holding my breath for snow in South Florida, but I will only be here another 2 - 3 days and then it is off to the north where they have had to shovel their drive way multiple times a day recently.
