In my experience.....we have 5 senses ( I know somebody is going to argue that point. some people would argue with a stump, just to prove they are smarter )

Generally, if you remove or negate 1 sense, the other senses seem to be enhanced to compensate.

LOL well there is "balance" if you want to round out the senses relative to the external world.  And there's internal senses which is sense of pain and change inside the body.  And then there's the sense of one's body relative to the world around it in terms of position and movement.

FR.
A CD recorded from an old TV set? You know you can actually buy proper white noise CD's online - I have a couple - they're designed to cover most audible frequencies. You can even get them with a wave feature too - the noise level undulates like waves on a beach. Very relaxing, but I don't think that's what you're trying to achieve here....

I know people say this all the time, but it's never been my experience, although I'm guessing the people that say it weren't anticipating having to process pain at the same time of adjusting to the loss of senses.

Sorry, but i have to agree with LA. She doesn't argue, mainly wanting things clarified because unlike you, she thinks things through and can distinguish between different aspects. She did this with me on determing my Dom/Mentor/Trainer/etc and i, thank to her, figured out what he was to me.

Please pardon my more generalized response.

Do you agree that a blind person has enhanced hearing and touch?

I am a simple man and try to keep things simple, LOL.

There is a huge difference between being blind for a scene, and actually being blind.

I think blind people learn to process their other senses more, the same way Deaf people can learn to use other senses.  I don't think there's some mystical equalizer somewhere that says - hey, if you can't see, then your sense of smell becomes like a dog's, it's that strong!!!!  But certainly when you lack one sense, you learn to pay attention to and process information that most of the rest of us ignore.

However - that takes time, and it's not something that goes off and on like a switch.  I do think that depriving someone of one or more senses makes the others more important, which can seem like they're stronger.  But not at the same level or in the same way that someone who cannot use that sense would develop.

Two different ballgames, really.  Football to baseball, as it were.

Why do so many people feel the need to over-complicate things? I think it might me from TME or the desire to appear hyper smart. And no, this is not an attack at LA or juliaoceania.

I am NOT trying to say that having a blindfold on is equivalent to actually being blind. Geez. However, in my experience, when I am in the dark, I "feel" more of my surroundings. When I am practicing with my whip, I like to close my eyes and seem to be able to "feel" the movement of the whip more, can almost "see" it's movement in my mind. Have you ever turned down a radio that was loud, so you could think easier, because it was a distraction? I think our brains have more abilities that what we normally expect of them, and that if you block out 1 form of input, it will focus elsewhere to get the data it wants.

I hope that made some sense.
