KurtKaboom -> Audio deprevation (12/7/2007 9:04:40 PM)

        My omega will be coming to serve over the holidays.  I'm toying with the idea of taking away her hearing for several of the prolonged games I have in mind.  My method will combine disposabal earplugs, with white noise through studio headphones.
       Does anyone have experience with this?

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: Audio deprevation (12/7/2007 9:07:38 PM)

Only as long as I can remember, but them I'm hearing impaired.

There's a difference between taking away hearing with dampeners and adding white noise.  Depending on whether you want her otherwise functioning at the same time will be one of the main factors in how your choice plays out.

KurtKaboom -> RE: Audio deprevation (12/7/2007 9:17:59 PM)

       My goal will be to remove her from the auditory envirenment.  I want to seperate her from the sounds of the whips and the music and her own screams.  Keeping her in silence isn't important, creating a further disconnection from reality is.

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: Audio deprevation (12/7/2007 9:19:25 PM)

You're still mixing up terms "remove someone from an auditory environment" IS keeping them in silence.

CHANGING the auditory input and REMOVING all auditory input are different things.

Whatever term you use for it....It sounds hot....[;)]

KurtKaboom -> RE: Audio deprevation (12/7/2007 9:23:28 PM)

        If she can't hear anything happening in the physical world beyond what I put into her ears, she has been removed from the auditory envirenment, has she not?

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: Audio deprevation (12/7/2007 9:24:47 PM)

She has also been placed into another auditory environment.  Removing someone from a room in the house doesn't take them out of the house.

Let me ask this- what would you experience as the difference between a) being locked in a completely silent room and b) wearing headphones with your favorite CD playing?

KurtKaboom -> RE: Audio deprevation (12/7/2007 9:31:42 PM)

      You are arguing at sementics when you could be making a positive contribution.  Does the lack of auditory cues heighten your anticipation in intense S/m impact play?  Your fear?

CuriousLord -> RE: Audio deprevation (12/7/2007 9:37:34 PM)

Actually, she's asking a valid question, one which you seem to be oblivious to.

I have to confess, it's rather amusing.

Sky42 -> RE: Audio deprevation (12/7/2007 10:45:57 PM)

While I understand what LuckyAlbatross is saying...  he's not going to put in a CD, rather just static 'fuzz'.  For all intents and purposes, she'll be deaf.

My thoughts on the idea... I expect it would highten the anticipation and sensation of it.  Fear isnt' the right word.. but yes.  Make sure you get a big set of 'ear-muff' type headphones.  The ones they use in ship engine rooms, or on flight-lines would be excellent I would think.  That being said...  without her own voice in her ears, I would also expect that her cries may be louder.

Miss, if you are reading this, Yes Please.

LA doesn't argue semantics, she has a point she's making and she's right, the two things she asked would have different effects.

Aylee -> RE: Audio deprevation (12/7/2007 11:09:29 PM)

I think that she would still be able to hear herself somewhat because of the inner ear bones and the vibration.  Have you tried this yourself to check it?

I'm not being argumentative here, but no, not quite.

Trust me, not hearing anything is a completely different experience from hearing statuc fuzz (a good description btw).

Yes, in both scenarios it means she is unable to take in auditory input from any other external source.  But her brain processes the two experiences in completely different ways and WILL greatly effect how she experiences other things as they occur- especially if she's required to be an active respondent.

   It is possible to drown out even the loudest of personel noises but the concern of longterm damage to hearing comes into play.  At a mid volume, a fullthroated yell is distant and strange, felt more than heard.  It will do for my purposes.
   This is not her favorite cd.  The sound is from an old television without a signal.  A steady wash of noise across the spectrum.  The foam earplugs greatly enhance the seperation from outside sound.

KurtKaboom -> RE: Audio deprevation (12/7/2007 11:49:12 PM)

      She'll be tied to a frame, or hanging from a beam.

MissAnthropic -> RE: Audio deprevation (12/7/2007 11:54:10 PM)

Just an aside, as hearing affects balance/co-ordination, would interfering with someone's hearing affect thier other motor functions?

cheers

I have some experience with this as I have had earplugs and headphones used on me. I was nervous and scared (in a good way of course), and the experience was absolutly great. One of the best experiences i've had.While I was deprived of noise I was whipped, flogged, and played with sexually and it wasnt happening one right after the next. There was time inbetwen everything to keep me guessing as to what was going to happen. I think the two of you will have a great time.

edited to add: I was tied to the bed unable to get up and walk around, although when it was all over he did add a leash and walk me around the house.

OldBastardly1 -> RE: Audio deprevation (12/8/2007 5:36:19 AM)

In my experience.....we have 5 senses ( I know somebody is going to argue that point. some people would argue with a stump, just to prove they are smarter )

Generally, if you remove or negate 1 sense, the other senses seem to be enhanced to compensate.

DesFIP -> RE: Audio deprevation (12/8/2007 5:56:05 AM)

I love blindfolds, gags and being bound. So he put headphones on me with some cd in so I couldn't hear what he was saying. My response was immediate, I had a panic attack and needed to be immediately released and comforted. For months afterwards I would get panicky if I couldn't hear him move around the room. I needed a lot more touch from him while blindfolded. I needed him to talk a lot more to me.

I don't know what that one further sens dep step caused such a bad reaction when in general I adore being separated from my environment. Be prepared to accept a bad outcome as well as a good one.

ItalianSMistress -> RE: Audio deprevation (12/8/2007 7:24:59 AM)

I love to use senseory dep in play, for hearing I normally use silicone earplugs that shape to the ear, in combo with a cloth bag over the head seems to provide enough noise drown out that I dont need anything else.  Two other times, I used an audio of screaming instead, in ear buds, that can also be very intense, but those times were both during play breaks, not during the play,,for that I would go back to earplugs and hood.
