I support Huckabee.  While he may believe homosexuality is sinful, that's his perogative and he acknowledges that in his faith we're all sinful as human being.  He includes himself in that category.  He's said that Americans should be respectful of homosexuals, which I most certainly agree with.  His AIDs stuff is a bit extreme, but it's not insanely over the top either.

I don't agree with his stance on gay marriage, and I'll confess to really not remembering the early 90s(More concerned with cartoons at the time, sadly) enough to know if his statement was hugely off base or anything.  However, that being said, he's the best candidate I've seen in the campaign thus far.  He seems to be a very genuine guy...and I'm normally rather critical of the religious half of my party.  He's never seemed truly hateful in his attitudes towards homosexuals.  I don't think it's insane of somebody to disagree with somebody else's lifestyle as long as they remain respectful.

For that matter, what about every other STI? Camps for herpes! Camps for warts! Only the perfect and unburdened shall have the right to society!

Let's start with a camp for kinky people! Before they infect the whole society!

He made these statements in 1992. That's about six years AFTER we found out how the virus was spread, and that there was no real danger of it being somehting that could be spread casually. Reagan made his "concentration camps for gays" plans in the early 1980's. So, Huck, being ever on top of the curve, spouted off long after any hysteria had faded. His comments were meant that he just wanted gays rounded up and put in one place.... I'm sure he would have found some reason to kill them all in the name of his crap religion, if he could have.

I lived under this creep for four years in Arkansas...  if you vote for him, it's only because you had the wool pulled over your eyes.

He made these comments a year after President George H.W. Bush spoke to a group of business execs that discrimination against HIV-infected people is inexcusable. And 6 years after the CDC said the virus cannot be spread through casual contact.

So his spin that the virus wasn't well understood when he made those comments is incorrect. It was understood that you could not contract it from casual contact.

One shouldn't bash somebody else for intolerance and then, seconds later, make an intolerant statement about somebody's so-called "crap religion."

Hey a few people who called themselves masters have killed people - all of us are obviously a danger to society!

While I try my best to be tolerent and accepting of ideas very different from own, when someone is talking about putting people in camps I get pretty intolerant. It's 90 degree slope greased with AstroGlide and you don't want to know what is at the bottom.

I don't give a damn what he thinks about homosexuality personally. It's when he starts trying to make laws about it that I have every right in this world to judge his opinions.

I found this article on the subject to be pretty thought-provoking.  In the end, personally, I can support Huckabee even though I disagree with his stance on gay marriage/adoption.  He disagrees without being vicously intolerant, imo.  I accept that others cannot.
