For a sub, it gets both more complex and very very individual.
At one extreme are the masochists or pain sluts....they just enjoy it . The somewhat scientific explanation is that their bodies release endorphines trigerred by pain,
and these in turn cause a state of high, called "subspace", comparable to a state of hypnotic trans...not feeling the pain
At the other are those who dread pain and are submitting to it only because their Dom enjoys it and also are willing to submit to corporal punishment as part of behavioral correction and the D/s dynamics or P/E. They definitely don't 'enjoy' the pain itself but enjoy the feeling of gratification that comes with seeing they
have pleased their Dom,
In between there are a zillion shades of pain tolerance and associated levels of pleasure. A mixture of the two extremes in various degrees.
Think of it like a viguorous massage or extrenuous workout , during which the muscles actually ache by being stretched to pain, but as soon as it is over, it gives a wonderul invigorating feeling; add to it sexual arousal, some proud for having pleased your partner, some feeling of being wanted and cherished .....get the picture?
All of this in the right dynamics and atmosphere...If someone grabs your head so you can't move and bites your lip ..it hurts like hell and your lip will bleed
If you kiss with someone that you care for, passionately and he bites your lip in the process....chances are you won't even notice until long after it's over
