Remember Ron Paul's theory about the NAU and the "amero"?  Some officials in Texas were surprised to receive calls about it.  His story has a bit of fact and a lot of fiction.  See http://www.newsweek.com/id/73372 (was too long to copy and paste).

The whole NAU thing is also a big hot topic on conservative talk radio. Glenn Beck especially is big on it and believes the conspiracy 100%

I'm constantly suprised how the "officials" are so unaware of the theories surrounding their positions and organizations. It's odd that a politician wouldn't be aware of the North American Union theory, or an official working in a transportation field would never have heard of the Nafta highway(as it's now being referred to). I mean this stuff has been around for awhile now and those very people would get a kick out of the theory the most if unfounded. I mean, I don't go to Alex Jones website, I don't join conspiracy websites, and I've heard of it, and I'm not in a position to where I should be the first to hear about it. They don't have to believe it, but the thought that someone in the middle of the whole thing would not be aware of theories pertaining to their organization, tends to lead me to the conclusion that
A. they are really really separated and out of touch with the public.
B. They are just saying they never heard of it, to belittle the idea.

Either explanation is disturbing.

"Texas Transportation Commissioner Ric Williamson says he's startled by superhighway fears. He tells NEWSWEEK he had never heard of a North American Union until people started badgering him about it. "They say, 'Is this part of the NAU and the amero?' … And I say, 'What the hell are you talking about?' "

It reminds me of Rudy saying he never heard of the blowback theory, but at the same time claiming 9/11. Well, is it even possible to be an expert in 9.11 and never heard of the theory that they attacked us, because we were in Saudi Arabia, the sanctions on Iraq etc.. Again, not a new theory, the same as the North American Union is not a new concept floating around. But the very people that claim to be at the heart of the issue. (9.11 and transportation commisioner), claim at the same time to being ignorant of common theories pertaining to what they are an expert in. Being aware of a theory is not the same as endorsing it.

Personally, I don't know if the North American Union is an official goal, or the Nafta Highway is a real project, or if blowback was the primary cause for 9.11. What I do know is that anybody involved in those areas where a theory is proposed, and the theory is very popular should have knowledge of it, if they have any amount of communication within the organization. I just don't buy that they've never heard of it. If they never heard of it, they must not talk to anybody or look up anything related to their field in the news. LOL.

It just doesn't make sense.

And on the topic, no one is going to come out and say the goal is for a North American Union, "officially". That wouldn't happen even if the theories are true for decades. However, small steps would take place all the time. Whether it is an :"official" policy or just merely an ideology moving towards that direction, I think it is clear that we are and have been moving towards a greater integration with Canada and Mexico. When does that integration become a North American Union would be in the eye of the beholder.

JMO.

I love the fact that it`s one of Sen.Kerry`s asshole "swiftboaters" ,who`s now fucking with the republicans, and fucking them good.

There`s a huge swath of republicans and conservatives, who believe that the UN has secret black armies, that might invade the US.I know, kooky.Just google "black helicopters".

This kind of story is irresistible, to that section of the party.

The "Eagle Forum",who just gave the asshole an award,is headed by
Phyllis Schlafly, and is one of the premiere neo-con/Christian-right leaders.

She (and Pat Robertson,Rush,Drudge, etc) has made this a main course the lunatic fringe`s diet.

Here`s more nuts.

I remember first hearing about NAU conspiracies back in the mid to late 1990s and it was on one of those very late night radio talk shows, the ones that talk about Area 51 and demonic possession and all that stuff. They claimed there was a grand global conspiracy to put the whole world under a one-world government. And that conspiracy seems to grow and change to fit any issue that arrises in the present. But that is where it first originated and now it has taken on a life of its own.

The X-Files was a popular show at the time too... So it was a good time for conspiracy theorists to make up all kinds of stuff...

Boy, If I weren't so tired.

There is so much to this, and I don't mean the stupid highway, I mean the methodology involved. Just today is not the day, plus I will start another thread instead of hijacking this one.

Ron Paul is the only candidate who actually understands the danger the current money creation system poses.

Monetary analyst R. Cook (a few quotes):

"While all of the Republican candidates except Ron Paul have totally ignored economic issues, the Democrats are all sounding more “populist” than at any time since the Great Depression. Nevertheless, with the exception of Dennis Kucinich, they all swallow in its totality the debt-based monetary system overseen by the Federal Reserve which is at the root of the escalating crisis."
......................
"But tax increases are not an answer to a disastrously flawed system. Without gaining control of the U.S. monetary system, any Democratic president, no matter how reform-minded, will be outsmarted and outflanked by the Money Power every time."
........................................
"Ninety percent of the members of Congress know nothing about monetary policy. With a handful of exceptions, the ten percent who do work on behalf of the banks."

First of all, from what I read there was a resolution in the house condemnning the plan. If this is a crackpot theory they did a bang up job.

Second, we live in a country with politricians who are so corrupt that people would believe such a crackpot theory if that's what it is.

Third, I cannot see how Canada would ever go along with this. Mexico maybe, but everybody knows the USD is going to drop like a rock.

Mexico might go for it just to get rid of the rif raf who only knows how to drive a truck and fuck*. But there is no economic advantage for Mexico to do this. They've already got the world by the balls, no environmental controls, a trade surplus, and nothing to do with those 130 some odd countries we currently occupy.

If any Canadian politician were for this I would make sure to assassinate them if I were a Canadian. To meld their currency with ours would be a disaster for them. While they don't have the advantage of the super cheap labor pool in Mexico, they have a much sounder economy than the US by far.

Why would either want to let us drag them down with us ? In time, the USD will not be running neck and neck with the CDN, it will be running neck and neck with the Peso.

When you look to see just who would benefit from the NAU scheme, you find the same people who have destroyed the US economy. It is not good for anyone even remotely concerned with the People of any of the three countries.

If any of you have a long memory, a long time ago people used to say "Soon they are going to require that you have auto insurance", and people scoffed, "No way" they said. Years ago people used to say "One day a loaf of bread is going to cost a dallar", again people scoffed. In Europe they said "They are going to meld all these countries and form like a union" and Europeans scoffed.

Tell me what good the EU has done. Nearly every country that bought into the sceme is sorry. England still wants no part of it.

Which brings us to another question, Canada is supposedly loyal to the Crown. Will they be permitted to give up semi-sovereignty ?

I think the story is true, but the plan is in it's infancy, and it isn't going anywhere soon. But I do believe that our politicians are stupid enough to do it. Or greedy enough. The thing about an issue like this is the same as any other issue, like NAFTA. Who benefits ? Politicians who do this would be lucky to be stoned to death on national TV, no normal person wants, nor has anything to gain by it.

And those two reasons are why I do not think it is a crackpot theory. One is that big money wants it, and two, it is no good. If that doesn't convince you, nothing will. But the congressional resolution, I might have to look around to find the actual number of the resolution. You might need to see it, but I don't. Once you know how these people are, you see measures like this as business as usual.
