I find something very cold and emotionally detached in this whole discussion. Pegging is "just an act" and the strap-on is "just an inanimate object." So the "act" has no emotional attachment? Is the female just a means of animating the inanimate object? Saying it's "just an act" equates pegging with the same emotional value as using the dildo on yourself or having a machine drive it in and out. And the strap-on does have symbolic value as representative of the male member. Our Western culture likes to destroy and ignore the symbolic value of everything and distill it down to a simple cold $ value. Take an anthropology class and you'll learn that many inanimate objects carry sexual meaning. So, the whole gay/straight issue is definitely one of personal opinion, but the "act"/"inanimate object" argument doesn't carry any weight for me.

It's an inanimate object. It can used for good or evil. It can symbolize a lot of things.

While a strap-on may symbolize a penis to you, it doesn't to me. Some dildos are designed to look like penises. Others come in designer colors and have butterflies on them. The penis is not so powerful that any insertable object is merely a stand-in for the penis. I'm partial to my Hello Kitty vib myself and the jackrabbit with a hummingbird and pearls swirling around in it. The strap-on, to me, symbolizes orgasms. That's about it.

Wow that is a great point about how the object is more of a dollar value. Then again I personaly think of it as an attachment ment to stimulate in a way that can be otherwise impossible. I also liked the point of how they only get off with a female mentioned earlier. Some good points have been mentioned , and I'm glad to see some depth to the answers.

Pegging is an action.
Sexual intercourse is an action.
Drinking is an action.

They are verbs. Doing words. A penis, a strap on is a noun.

So is laughing and crying. Both of them are actions - yet depending on the situation and context they can mean different things - happy, sad, ridicule, love...
Anal sex with a strap on is no different.
