I was on Ron Paul's site earlier and he had a fund raiser on sunday and they say he raised $5.4 million!
That's pretty close to John Kerry's record of $5.7M.
And lots of first time doners too.
So far in the second quarter he's raised $15m!

Yet, when one of the local news stations called me earlier this evening, for an automated poll, the closest they came to mentioning him was "other republican candidate, press 8."

I've said it before yet it keeps becoming clearer and clearer.
ALL the other republicans AND Obama, Hillary, Edwards, Biden,  etc...
They ALL support both the war in Iraq AND our continued policy of policing the entire world.
That costs us TRILLIONS of dollars that we cannot afford in pursuit of a goal we do not need.
If you oppose the war then it MUST be the MOST important issue for you; BOTH because of the blood spent AND the money wasted.
If you oppose the war in Iraq there is ONLY ONE viable candidate who would END that war.
Ron Paul.
You vote for Ron Paul and peace OR any other viable candidate and endless war a la Orwell's "1984".
Each individual needs to decide which they want to vote  with that knowledge in mind.

Yeah, I saw that earlier.  I'm on Ron Paul's friend list on myspace, and they send out bulletins with the latest news.  I have one of his videos up there, I tell everyone I can about him, and I have donated what I could to the campaign.  I am hoping against hope that he can pull off a miracle and win the primary.  I know he says he won't run as a independent if he loses, but I am hoping he will change his mind.  I honestly think we could get a independent in the White House.  I think Perot might of pulled it off in '92, if he hadn't started acting loony and wishy-washy.

Yup, I agree, we definately need an Independant President who cares about the U.S. and the "great unwashed" for a change.
Rudy, Hillary, and most of the rest of them are obligated to corporate interests as a result of corporate money.

It basically says 5900+ people donated over 6 million dollars.  That's an average of $102.16 per person (actual stats on the site.)  Contrast that to a recent dinner Obama held in Hollywood with a donation ticket of $2300 per plate.

Color me impressed.

No surprise when one considers what master most of the media serves.

Yeah, I recall his incessant "dirty tricks committee" remarks. Whether what he was speaking of was true or not, he dug his own grave with his handling of the situation.

I voted for him anyway, as he was still the best choice.

Actually the total for the one day wound up being $6.04 million. He beat John Kerry's one day record. And the total for the quarter so far is $18.25 million.

Quite an amazing feat. Expessially with 24,915 being first time donors, shows support is growing. On a side note did anyone catch his HOUR long interview on Glen Beck last night? It was defintally very fair.

I threw 20 bucks his way, main reason being his support of  Gold and Silver standard.

I saw Ron Paul on Glen Beck the other night. For fair disclosure I lean toward the Libertarian Party though am an independent. I personally am a fan of many of Ron Paul's views but I think he frankly did a horrible job of convincing anyone that is still undecided. He had a considerable amount of time and Glen readily admitted he was a fan of Ron Paul. With so much spoon feeding I was expecting something more revolutionary. For instance when he explained his lack of tax strategy and abolishing of the IRS he did not touch on the fact at all of how that transition could take place without a considerable amount of red tape and the cutting off of funding for thousands upon thousands of programs reliant consistently on taxes. Also if someone would please explain to me how the balance sheets of every major corporation the US would simply change the entire infrastructure for reporting and how long all of this would actually take to transition. In theory alot of ideas sound great, in black and white many unfortunately can actually be quantified. If someone has a link explaining the exact protocol I would greatly appreciate seeing the inner workings of this plan. Thanks in advance, have a great day !

Regards,

sissy

Simple, you go right to a national sales tax and the IRS collects that money from companies and leaves individuals alone.

You will never be able to go to a national sales tax. The Democrats and liberals are 100% convinced such a plan would only benefit the rich.

Well that just shows how ignorant of the facts that they are.
The wealthy in this country spend WAY more money than the "not wealthy" for the simple fact that they *have* more money.
We're reduced to Cadillacs while "they" think nothing of spending $120k on a Mercedes.

There are several arguments that are valid however...
-Property values would decrease and mortgage debt would increase. The tax benefit of homeownership would disappear and people would have to find a way to finance the sales tax. In a period where the real estate market is on unsteady ground and has an uncertain future.....this is not a good idea to play around with. You could end up making the mortgage crisis much, much worse.
-Consumer spending would decrease. The price of goods will increase with the added tax making it harder for lower-income people to make purchases.
-How do you fund social security? Medicare? National defense? Even if you dont have any wars, you still have to raise and maintain an army, Navy, Air Force, border security, coast guard, etc... Without a guranteed flow of cash, you cant maintain these things.

Please no popeye! Ron Paul does not support a national sales tax. At most he might accept one as part of a compromise agreement with congress.
Domsissy: I am confident I can pretty precisely state Ron's Paul's plan of possibilites. Would it be OK a little at a time though since it would take quite a while to type all at once? Can we assume that you understand that he starts trillions ahead budgetarily because of the imposition (the part of his program he can implement most rapidly) of a non-interventionalist foreign policy?

HOT DAMN!

I disagree with some of his politics- but I do admire his ethics, and his honest desire to serve the nation, and no line more fatcat pockets.

But when I found out he had a blimp, I am so giving him some money. I might even vote for him. Becuase of the blimp...
