I am in the beginning of a relationship with a great sub, but we are having difficulty finding something fitting for him to call me during a scene. "Mistress" is very played out. Goddess won't work for me, etc... I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of perhaps lesser known or other names for a sub to call his Domme?

Fox calls me Maam, or by my name. When he can even speak during scene... which isnt often.
Angel calls me Mommy.
If you cant find anything comfortable for him to call you, consider just not using direct address. Fox answers questions I ask him during the scene, and I repeatedly ask him who's he is and things like that, which has the same reinforcement uses as a title would but without the awkwardness of a title neither of you like.

My 2 cents

I'm just wondering if it's the words or the concepts.  I like to use words from other languages "Diosa" or something for example.  And based on your name, I wonder about "Lady Byron" or "Wilmot" since he wrote the poem for Mrs. Wilmot...

just a thought.

Master.

Or, check out this page from an online thesaurus. There's bound to be a title in there that you like. http://thesaurus.reference.com/browse/mistress

Master FIre

I'm rather partial to "my Lady" or some variant thereof.

"Yes, m'Lady, as you wish, m'Lady" has such a nice ring to it.

However if I was a mistress, as i have a strong interest in elizabethan/victorian england
m'lady
has always been a favourite
or my first thought because of your abundant locks was
versuvius
spelling is wrong, I think it's the mountain that covered Pompeii in ancient times.

Allow me to ply my ancient history geekiness.
The spelling you're looking for is Vesuvius.
Glad to be of service.

You could have him call you Ms. (insert your last name, here), as people address women in authority, in our culture, in real life.  Then, as you prefer, perhaps alternate between that and the shorter, Ma'am or Miss.

You could have him address you by your first name.  Only, have him use it similarly to the use of Ma'am or Sir.  That might be a little kinky, a little humiliating, in itself, as he addresses you as if you're on equal terms, but is constantly saying, "Yes, Tracy," and "No, Tracy," and "Please, Tracy" - (insert your first name, of course).

If either of you speak another language or if you just find it appealing, you could borrow honorifics from other languages.

Of course, if you're into some fantasy story you're particularly fond of that has invented a title or form of address you find cool or poetic, try that.

I like to have a submissive address me in a way that seems natural for him, as well as something that I like hearing.  So you might choose with that in mind.

And if there's some form of address that tends to turn him on and put him in subspace, in and of itself, you may want to consider it.

I don't think "snooky-poops" has been used yet :)

Let it come naturally from him.  That way the energy is genuine.  You'd be surprised what they say in the throws of a good session

When I was considering my slave, I did not want him calling me "Mistress" until and if he was formally collared, so I had him call me MIM (My Intended Mistress).  I then added an "e" to my title to differentiate me from the pro sector and the vanilla definition of "mistress".  Therefore I became Mistresse LotusSong.

How about BooBoo Kitty Fuck?  It worked in "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back"...lol.  Just kidding!

If Mistress didn't want me to use that title, I'd be inclined to use something regal like "M'lady" or "My Queen".  If She would be more interested in something a more evil (since She is gothic), I'd come out with something like "Ms. Gothica" or "Evilena".  You could also do a Yahoo search for names of goddesses from mythology and see if one piques your attention.  If you are interested in a different age, like Victorian or Elizabethan, you could use one othe their references for a lady of power.

I hope that helps.

"Mistress" wasn't appropriate for My current sub.  I didn't want "Ma'am" because that gave no distinction between Myself and other Dominant women.  I wanted something that would fit the situation, and decided on m'Lady.  Now, I'm rather fond of it.

I'd start making a list of all of these suggestions and find some of your own using the thesaurus idea from MasterFireMaam.

Then you could either have your partner read the titles to you one at a time or you could consider each title in turn. I recommend closely your eyes and listening to the title and feel it for a few minutes. I think you'll know when your mind, heart, and body reacts in an empowering way and that will be your clue as to what is correct for you with him.

The appropriate title can and probably will change with different partners at different times.

Right now I'm on a "Doctor Mistress" kick with Fox because of reaching my personal education goal recently. I'm sure I'll tire of it in a while.

I like Mistress; it just really buzzes me the right way.  But I have never used it all the time with anyone I have been with.  I don't relish the idea of getting into the habit of it and accidentally saying it in a store or in front of unknowing family and friends.  So it just something I think is best reserved for private or lifestyle settings.  Don't get me wrong, I will call someone whatever they want.  But I do think it's best to decide on something together.

That being said, one of the things I have always called my dominants is Lover.  I absolutely adore saying that.  Hello Lover, yes Lover, no Lover.  It just really has a nice ring to it, and it is something you can say in front of anyone.  You can go the other route, and use "my Love."  But, that sounds kind of pretentious to me.

'Ma'am'  is My personal favorite; I've also been referred to as:

'my Queen'

'my Lady'

'my Duchess'

'my One'

'Wise One'

'Honorable One'

and one that rang particularly sweetly in My ears:

'my Precious Opportunity to Serve' now that's a moniker I'll always remember!

Find what's comfortable for YOU!

I usually go by Governes or Ma'am.  I like Ma'am personally, but I know lots of Dommes that dont.  I reserve Mistress for a choosen few, I generally dont like to be called that.  Syr is another one I have used, but you have to think of what you like, of course.

I call Her "Lady"...and never have I put "my" in front of any of that...it just seems so much like taking ownership over the person who's supposed to be in charge.
