Yes intelligence. But more than that - articulation. I like words and they way they can be played with and anyone who can spin words in a beautiful, intelligent manner will have my rapt attention.

I do know there are many types of intelligence. and some do not translate to ANYthing but a genius at human interactions. those are the ones you sense immediately in any group or even crowd. sadly, those can be the most dangerous ones as well.

I guess I should have specified formal education in this too. I do not feel that formal education is a big thing...I mean personally if some girl with glasses and a book under her shoulder came to me (unless she had the whole schoolgirl get up ::wink::) I wouldn't think that we had too much in common. But I do prefer someone that has a wealth of knowledge, as I stated before. To me thats the type of person that can carry on a conversation about pretty much anything and interest you. And when I say match wits, I also mean just "hold their own." This post didnt really add to the discussion, as I just like to start them, you guys are the ones that keep them going. Rob

However, i worked political campaigns for about 10 election cycles (i mean state and local politicians) and each time the candidate had my respect, which was not lost after he was elected. There are many, many more sincere, bright, compassionate people holding public office than there are rouges; but no one hears about them because they are not newsworthy. pinkpleasures

A woman who has decided to make no provision whatsoever for a middle-class (above the poverty level) income has demonstrated a lack of "common sense" in my opinion. One of the indicia of transitioning into adulthood is the ability to feed, clothe and house oneself in a reasonably safe and comfortable manner. We live in a shrinking economy, shifting to a predominately service-based economy, and many industrial jobs that once allowed people a decent wage have been exported overseas. i would expect a woman in her early 20's to be laying some kind of foundation for her career. pinkpleasures

However, to this i have to say something. i have a high school diploma and some college and i am gainfully employed fully capable of supporting myself and my family in a reasonably comfortable manner. To imply that without a college degree, a woman is somehow lesser than one who does have one is entirely prejudiced. i personally consider myself an intelligent, well-spoken, capable person, and my lack of a college diploma does not change that. Just my two cents...that and 4 years of college might make me change my mind! lol

Yes -- I cannot help but rebel against the one-word answer! I must say that the most brilliant person that I have ever met was also one of the most compassionate and humble creatures to grace this planet. What's more, he couldn't spell worth a damn and his reading was for piss. I adored him anyway, and so did everyone else who had the good fortune of knowing him.

I am confused on how I was thrown in with college degree smart...Never did I say I prefer someone with a degree or anything, I just made mention of the fact...I know many people that are intelligent and all they have is street smarts...so please stop insinuating that I prefer book smart people. So stop referring to me, I just like to begin the convos and then lurk, but once I think I'm out, you keep bringing me back in. Rob
