FirmhandKY -> English or American Babes? (12/22/2007 10:14:43 AM)

Ok, ok, this article does not represent my opinion.  I have no basis for an opinion on the subject, but I thought the article was pretty damn hilarious, although you can pick it apart in about 3 seconds flat.

The article is about who is better looking, and why: American or British women.

American beauty?
The Times
December 11, 2007

Extracts:

Sophie was a truly beautiful girl I used to be friends with, but hadn’t seen in 15 years. I was surprised to hear that she was still single and was excited to meet her again. At dinner, I found myself sitting opposite something that surely would have been happier hunting for truffles in the forests of France or grazing on the grassy marshlands of Canada.

...

But, ladies, the only time a man will notice your shoes is if your feet are wedged on top of his shoulders bouncing either side of his head.

...

Within 10 minutes of meeting an American woman, I guarantee you will know her salary and most recent medical/ dental procedure. They all but turn up with their CV printed out. In return, they will immediately want to know “all” about you, ie, how much you earn, how much you have earned in the past, what your future earning potential is, whether you own property, whether you have an investment portfolio, where you shop, where you “vacation”, what you drive and how large your parents’ house is. I once got to the end of a date in New York, pulled out my credit card to pay and the girl solemnly remarked: “A green American Express card? I didn’t know they still made them in that colour.”

...

American women also take themselves too seriously and are annoyingly confrontational. The good news for men, by the way, is they are convinced that the best way to prove they are equal to a man is by sleeping with him. Um . . . Go ahead, that’ll teach me

"The Best of the Best" replies to the original article.  Some are pretty damn funny themselves.

I am a massive fan of British women. UK girls, in my opinion, are the greatest natural beauties in the world . . . when they’re 17 or 18 years old. The girls I was surrounded by when I was a teenager were sublime roses with lustrous hair, flawless skin, bright eyes and lithe, athletic bodies. They dressed as if there would be a prize at the end of the night for the girl wearing the least. I then went away to Philadelphia for university. Four years later, I came back and wondered: “What the hell happened to all the beautiful girls I knew?” My first assumption was that one half of them had eaten the other half and washed them down with a crate of lager. These girls looked phenomenal when looking good took no effort. But when British women get to the age where they have to make an effort, they appear unable, or uninterested, in rising to the challenge.

I like them both.
I have certain "types" of women that I like and Brits and Americans both fit the bill.

But, as Sarah Jessica Parker tells us in the ad for her perfume, she's lovely on the inside......

In my experience its not a US or UK or anywhere thing, and it most definitely isnt a male or female thing. Where I live is a poor neighbourhood - low education, social problems, high unemployment. The young women look great at about 16, then by 20, by which time they have at least two kids they all look like harridans with scowling faces, Chelsea facelifts and lost any pretence to looking good. The young men meanwhile are very alike; at 16 theyre rock hard wild bags of testosterone, but by 20, by which time they have produced several kids and been in prison at least once, they sport beer bellies and have the complexions of middle aged drinkers.

Its absolutely no joke (though I find it amusing) that round here, I'm something of a babe.

GoddessMine -> RE: English or American Babes? (12/22/2007 11:01:51 AM)

Tired, cliched title and dumb article with too many assumptions. The author's "American" woman is described as something far from what I know.

Love,

Why thank you MsM!

But honestly, it is a relative thing you know? Like Burger King is decent food compared to McDonalds....

You know Level - I laughed out loud when I first saw that ad and SJP uttered the phrase "lovely - on the inside" for exactly that reason! I wouldnt say she was ugly, but she certainly has an unusual look.... so much so that she may be lovely, but obviously on the inside!

[:D] Yes, E, but I wonder if Matthew Broderick yells "giddy-yap!" when they go to bed?

Matthew Broderick? Really?

But............ he's a reasonable looking guy..........? How'd he get saddled with her?

I love English women. The great love of my life was English. I always thought I would end up with an English girl. But I’m never getting laid in Britain ever again.

...

Well done, Britain. If what women are striving for is the ability to get hammered and fall over in the street, Britain is a feminist paradise from coast to coast.

Read the whole thing.

A deep, abiding need to be whipped, is my guess, E. [:D] They've been married for several years now...... sheesh, I don't know what he's thinking!

Judging from this, the question is how did she get saddled with him.

I remember dancing with a really lovely English girl. She was gorgeous. Things were going well until I took her hand. I actually recoiled. Her palms were rough and leathery like a tree-climbing monkey’s. Years of working around horses had given her the hands of an 80-year-old Siberian coalminer. Surely some sort of moisturising routine would have been a simple and inexpensive remedy.

Thanks for posting this thread, Kentucky, I agree, it's funny; I don't buy it, but it made me laugh. [:D]

Yeah, that's it!
Hey, maybe we could have an "Internet Gang Bang" with Lady E!
I like them on the slender side and with their own money.
I was a walking ATM machine to the last one.

Najakcharmer -> RE: English or American Babes? (12/22/2007 12:43:47 PM)

There are reasons that working people in some professions *need* callouses on their hands, in case that is too difficult for some folks to figure out.

Someone who is too shallow to respect that is certainly no one I would want to date.  If you want a woman (or a man) with soft hands, either make damn sure you date someone who works a desk job and who is not nearly interesting or personable enough to have a great passion for any sort of physical activity, or plan to support someone so they do not have to work at all.   Elsewise, STFU about the normal consequences of working hard at something that matters.
