I actually did cut down the 100ft. section to four ten and two 25ft. sections.  Im in lov with hemp, but am waiting for my skill to catch up with my pocket book for that.  thanks for all the tips and ideas, I wish Id have listened to myself when i was 17 and realized i liked all of this....

Hi

I take the Japanese approach with rope by using 25 ft lengths, although I do only tie Japanese inspired rope bondage which uses a doubled over rope, starting with the middle bight. Whilst I can see the benefits on using shorter rope, especially if you doing bedroom/four corners of the bed style bondage, I would hate to use anything longer. Adding more rope is far easier than pulling through 50 foot of rope as you start to use it - it becomes far less about the energy and dynamics of a good rope scene, and more about technical rope management while the person being tied tries to stop being bored IMHO. But then I'm someone who hates slow rope bondage that takes an hour to put on...

The domme who taught it to me called it a "catspaw" knot. Quick, easy, works with a short length of rope or the end of a long piece.

I noticed your concern about overtightning if the rope gets caught. There is a very simple knot that You can grab the hanging bits and yank as hard as possible and it will not tighten around the wrists, ankles, etc. I do not know the name of the knot or I would post a hyperlink to instructions. I will attempt to give instructions, but I am not so good at explaining without physical demonstration.

Drape the rope over your wrists so that the center is between them. Rotate your forearms away from your body (counter clockwise for your left hand clockwise for your right) and below the section of rope between your hands. Repeat twice (three total rotations) Take the loops from around your wrists and put them together. slide that double loop over the sub's hand. You will have two hanging bits grab those and push the bunched up parts of the rope towards your subs wrists. Tighten to desired tightness. To loosen the knot pull the loop at the end of the knot away from the wrist.

I am hoping that someone knows what I am talking about and will post better instuctions. Sorry for the thread hijack.

2 x 15ft. 1/4in.
2 x 25ft. 3/8in.
100ft. 3/8in
50ft. 5/16in
15ft. 5/8in
30ft. 5/8in
25ft. real thin camping line for hair corsets, etc.

What do you use the 5/8ths rope for?  I find that stuff far too bulky for bondage purposes.
