This question is based on my own observation, so it is all, of course, very subjective. I've found, from looking at the various BDSM video sites I subscribe to, that male Dominants seem much more happy to use gags on their subs than female Dominants.

I don't know if this is a gender thing, or just a personal preference thing. Maybe it's just a coincidence that the sites I watch happen to follow this trend, but it's quite interesting, all the same. Do you guys think there is some truth in this? Is it a gender preference or just a personal one?

If you're a Domiant, either male or female, how do you feel about gagging a submissive, and gags in general?

I think it's personal preference.  My last two Dommes both liked to gag me (until they wanted my tongue used, of course).  I have seen plenty of sites with gagged male subs and am sure you can find them if that's what you're seeking.

I don't think BDSM video sites are very representative of the actual population or necessarily even real.  I think it all depends on the individuals and it's not necessarily gender based.  In the top position I'm more inclined not to want them as it temporarily limits access to the mouth and activites involving it.  As a sub, I'm fairly indifferent but often find myself gagged as I can be quite vocal [;)]

I love gags, my ex would never use them though; he liked the sounds of screams too much he said. I tried to explain you could scream into a gag, but it was his choice...so now I have a brand new ball gag that finally fits me and I am waiting to use it for the first time. [8D]

i hate gags.  they're messy, a pain when they get in the way and they partially block an airway, something i consider risky in any event.  i like all airways clear, thank you. besides which, it's easier to hear screams and other utterances without a gag.  :)

As with everything it depends upon the submissive. I've used gags with great success (I actually personally prefer the sound of a gagged scream) but the sub must be comfortable with it and not panic when they are unable to breath through their mouth. One thing I never do is combine a gag with any type of serious movement constricting bondage.

I personally have qualms about using gags for safety reasons. And, I also like to talk to my bottom when I play, and I like for them to be able to answer me.

But, as others have said, it's an individual thing.

I have yet to hear anything as sexy as the sound of a moan escaping from behind a gag. I also really enjoy the visual of a pair of pretty lips wrapped around a ball-gag. Lovely!

I've also noticed that slight trend, but I think in RL it has more to do with preference than anything else.

Not fond of gags as either sub or Domme ... hate drooling as a sub ... and as a Domme, I love to talk to My sub and have him or her answer Me. Just a personal preference though! Thinking of parties I have attended, I think the count would be in favour of male Doms gagging their girls, rather than female Dommes gagging their boys. Could it have anything to do with different relative talkativeness of the genders? [;)]

I absolutely adore gags.  The way they look, the purpose they serve, and especially the noises made by the person wearing them.

It's really just personal preference though.  [;)]

Daddy will NOT gag me.  and i am glad of it.  the topmost reason is that he loves hearing the "eeks, squeaks, and peaks" that i make, and the other reason is that he needs to be able to have me respond affirmitively that i'm ok when he's flogging me.  hurting me is fine, harming me is not fine.

I personally love the looks of a ball gag on my male sluts.  HOWEVER,  I prefer to use a safety ballgag - one that has holes.  It still gives the "look" of a gag..and makes them feel inferior, but, it is very safe.
