I'm there.  Except for the coconut rum, I just don't care for coconut.  But I do agree, you can mix rum and pinapple juice a few other things and it's pretty damn good.

A favorite of mine is rum, pineapple juice and Maui Hawaiian schnapps, slushy!

My liquor (pronounced lik-coor) recipe totally rocks.

Then it is probably spelled liqueur...

To the OP. I like some of the better Irish whiskeys, Armagnac, small batch bourbon, and Boodles.

I'm going to try some Patron anejo to see what all the fuss is about... It would have to go some to beat my current favorite Sauza 3G.

(All consumed neat of course.)

i'm taking notes here lol....as far as beers go, i'm a Guiness Extra Stout or Mocha Porter kind of girl, the darker and cloudier it is the more i love it.  i LOVE red wine sangria.  i also like margaritas, but on ice with salt around the rim,  and how could anyone go wrong with a bloody mary, extra spicy!  dang, now i have a hankering for a green olive....

beth's easy, at least in an alcoholic beverage sense, Jack & coke. Me, I'm more of a whim drinker and always like trying something new. I especially love the new trend of bars providing a martini menu. There's a great bar in the South Bay that makes a fantastic key-lime martini. Pushed to choose and it becomes a seasonal thing. Cold days - a single malt, first choice - Oban. Business dinner, Bombay sapphire martini up 2 olives stuffed with blue cheese if possible. Hot days, a Long Island iced tea, but only if the bartender claims to make a good one and doesn't ask; "What's in it?" In that case a beer - preference for German imports, first choice - Lowenbrau.

When I chose to drink, it is with the express purpose of getting tow-up. I usually drink vodka, straight, and ice-cold from the freezer. I've recently discovered that I like whisky, but I'm still getting to know the various varieties. On the rare occasions I indulge in mixed drinks, it's usually something a little exotic like a "Harvy Witchhunter" (stregha and tonic) or a Manhattan (vodka and absynthe). Port for dessert, with walnuts and cheese, is nice. Red wine with a meal occasionally, but usually onl if there's wine in the food somewhere. And remember - when cooking with wine, don't waste your money on the cheap stuff. If it's not okay to drink, it's not okay to use.

I don't have one favourite, it all depends on two things..........my mood at the time and what is available.

I probably drink more wine than anything else, good red and dry. Occasionally dry white on a hot summer day but not many I like. Unlike a red you really have to spend some $$ to get a decent white.

Love Makers with a side of ice water for sipping.

Margaritas made with mescal.......omg. There is a place is Cozumel that makes the best ever.

A really good gin and tonic on a hot summer day is to die for.

Really cold, good vodka on the rocks with a twist of whatever citrus I am in the mood for.

Basically I am open to trying most anything other than beer (I hate beer) or sweet drinks, stuff with cola in it.

There used to be a microbrewery/restaurant downtown here (I'm pretty sure it closed, I don't get out much anymore as a single parent), where I had some Bridalveil Falls Pale Ale that was quite yummy (being within driving distance of Yosemite, it seems like everything is named after something in Yosemite).  I'm not normally an ale drinker.  If I'm drinking beer, it's Corona with white pizza, or Michelob in a bottle with gumbo or crawfish.

I make my own liqueurs as well, although its been a while.  I have a reputation among my friends for a lemon liqueur that tastes like lemonhead candies but will kick yer arse.  Some other favorites are pomegranite, cinnamon, and even banana (although it is a TON of work to get that sucker to be clear and not cloudy).

On my what-to-drink-when-out list is long island iced tea, kamikaze, amaretto di sarrono on crushed ice, cosmos, mudslides, and something called a black widow (kahlua and light rum on the rocks, which I found on the menu at a mandarin restaurant in a small town in louisiana many years ago).  Of course, not all at one sitting.

lmao!  your brandy recipe sounds interesting, i might have to try it!

i remember as a kid, my dad would make home made wine in bottles and put a balloon on the top of whatever bottle he was using.  when the balloon was fully inflated, he said it was ready...it was always really gross looking to me, but what did i know at 10 years old?

My Dad had a similar way of checking his booze.

He didn't make his own, but his favorite was whiskey and he'd go to the liquor store, carefully set his new bottle on his liquor shelf, then twist the top...he always said..."when you hear the seal break after you turn it clockwise...it's ready".

(Dad was no dummy).

I like doing shots of Tarantula Azul tequila right from the freezer, no need for salt or lime, but a square of good watermelon works well instead of a lime.

For drinks, it is usally something with Parrot Bay coconut rum in it.

Try 50% Drambuie and 50% Grand Marnier instead.
