I can't say any song has made me cry the first time I heard it. There have been a few songs that have affected me physically, sending intense shivers right through me like a knife. One in particular by The Moody Blues..."Have You Heard?" This is mostly instrumental and is on the album, "On the Threshold of a Dream."

Another song that just captivated me when it first played on the radio was, "The Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald." About three years later I was listening to it while driving and started crying for the men who went down with the ship. For some reason, I suddenly felt like I was there with them and felt their helplessness.

Movies are what get to me. "Forest Gump" and "Places in the Heart" are two of my favorites and always hit me when I see them.

I'm a wimp, too many songs can make me cry.
Here's one from Tim McGraw called "All We Ever Find"

Say exactly how you feel
Right now your free to say it all
There is no one here to judge you
I only love you
You're free to close your eyes and fall
You can trust me this is real
Say exactly how you feel

C H O U R S
Tell me all your dreams
What you think love means
We'll lock the world outside
Embrace the gift of time
Promising forever
Knowing that this moment might be
All we ever find

Every breath of who you are
Tells a story that I love
I have finally found the truth in what I see in you
And what I feel with every touch
The simple beauty of your heart
In every breath of who you are

Tell me all your dreams
What you think love means
We'll lock the world outside
Embrace the gift of time
Promising forever
Knowing that this moment might be
All we ever find

Tell me all your dreams
What you think love means
We'll lock the world outside
Embrace the gift of time
Promising forever
Knowing that this moment might be
All we ever find

Promising forever
Knowing that this moment might be
All we ever find

"Father and Son" by Cat Stevens. The first time I ever spent the night with my Master, the following morning he played me that song on the guitar. It was then, as I looked into his eyes and listened to him sing, that I realized I loved him. I had forgotten the song until about a week ago.. I heard it again and totally burst into tears.

Don Henley - Heart of the Matter

I got the call today, I didn't wanna hear
But I knew that it would come
An old true friend of ours was talkin' on the phone
She said you found someone
And I thought of all the bad luck,
And the struggles we went through
And how I lost me and you lost you
What are these voices outside love's open door
Make us throw off our contentment
And beg for something more?

I'm learning to live without you now
But I miss you sometimes
The more I know, the less I understand
All the things I thought I knew, I'm learning again
I've been tryin' to get down to the Heart of the Matter
But my will gets weak
And my thoughts seem to scatter
But I think it's about forgiveness
Forgiveness
Even if, even if you don't love me anymore

These times are so uncertain
There's a yearning undefined
...People filled with rage
We all need a little tenderness
How can love survive in such a graceless age
The trust and self-assurance that lead to happiness
They're the very things we kill, I guess
Pride and competition cannot fill these empty arms
And the work I put between us,
You know it doesn't keep me warm

I'm learning to live without you now
But I miss you, Baby
The more I know, the less I understand
All the things I thought I figured out, I have to learn again
I've been tryin' to get down to the Heart of the Matter
But everything changes
And my friends seem to scatter
But I think it's about forgiveness
Forgiveness
Even if, even if you don't love me anymore

There are people in your life who've come and gone
They let you down you know they hurt your pride
You better put it all behind you, baby; 'cause life goes on
You keep carryin' that anger, it'll eat you up inside

I've been tryin' to get down to the Heart of the Matter
But my will gets weak
And my thoughts seem to scatter
But I think it's about forgiveness
Forgiveness
Even if, even if you don't love me anymore

I've been tryin' to get down to the Heart of the Matter
Because the flesh will get weak
And the ashes will scatter
So I'm thinkin' about forgiveness
Forgiveness
Even if, even if you don't love me anymore

The baby mine song from dumbo, and some theme songs from moves and tv
I dedicated time in a bottle to my x my last and only master, so it's kind of hard on me.

Baby mine, don't you cry
Baby mine, dry your eyes
Rest your head close to my heart
Never to part, baby of mine
Little one when you play
Don't you mind what you say
Let those eyes sparkle and shine
Never a tear, baby of mine
If they knew sweet little you
They'd end up loving you too
All those same people who scold you
What they'd give just for
The right to hold you
From your head to your toes
You're not much, goodness knows
But you're so precious to me
Cute as can be, baby of mine

Open Arms by Journey

Go There with You by Steven Curtis Chapmen

Tears in Heven by Clapton

The musical Score to Last of the Mohicans

The Chistmass Music by Mainheim Steam Roller

Rob Thomas is one hell of a singer. His music along with Match Box 20 brings out many of my emotions and past experiences. "I will" and "Mad Season" especially

Long December by the Counting Crows

Where ever you go, Whatever you do, I'll always be right here waiting for you

That country song "Dont Take the Girl"

Everything I do I do it for you by Brian Adams

Secret Ambition by Michale W Smith

CC and BB Weinen the brother ans sister performers have made some great songs together over the years.

Time in a Bottle by Jim Grossci

Save the Best For Last by Vanessa Williams.

These are just a few songs that have brought out tears and emotions from within me. Some of joy and some of sadness and depending on the moment which I am in. Some where just so good you coudn't help but feel the emotion comming from the performer or the music as I'm empathitic to peoples meanings.

Wow, you and I have a huge similarity in taste of music.

Last of The Mohicans? Love it!

Plus, I adore Manheim Steamroller.

I'm really a sucker for classical music. One of my few gppd memories of my mother was when she'd tuck us into her bed and turn on the local classical music station while she went and showered, and if I wasn't asleep by the time she got back, she'd stay and hum the songs to me while she held me untill I fall asleep. If there's a tune I recognise, or a piece with strings (or piano, especially, since she was a pianist) I'll sit in the dark and just cry silently.

Hurt - Johnny Cash
Photograph - Charlie Robison
Dust in the Wind - Kansas
Burning Bridges - (dunno?)

Those were just off the top of my head. Probably many more that can bring a tear.

CalliopePurple -> RE: Songs That Make You Cry (8/28/2005 6:13:38 PM)

I know most of the songs people are mentioning. Some of them get me emotional too. Sound is my main sense, so it's always fairly easy to link a person or memory to a song.

Like my old roomie: thinking of my time there brings to mind Britney Spears - Stronger.
