What is considered a reasonable age difference for a solid D/s relationship?
Indeed there will be the normal "whatever works" inputs, but at core we all operate with a range that we consider appropriate.

Myself being one of the more"elder" of the dominant group have a fairly rigid parameter that will work for a long term relationship, but since so many profiles tend to make age a criteriain their profiles, it a subject for a consensus review.

*sighs*.....another age issue discussion, huh?
Damn.....i am beginning to hate being the age i am....well...better yet....it has seemed to be an issue since i became involved in this life style over 3 yrs ago.
Granted....i dont wish to be with a Dom who is alot older than myself....but i have had Doms in the past few months (who are only  3 to 4 yrs younger than me) express their concerns about my *advanced age*.
Shrugs**.....good gawd.....

Age has no baring, it is the maturity and mentality that matters.

For me it would be a matter of .....culteral touch stones...assuming that you would want to talk to some one. I am not sure what the age would be, but some common reference points are important to me

I prefer that they not be in diapers.... on either end of the spectrum.

I believe in mental ages in different areas.  If someone wants me to understand what it's like to have children and to buy your own house, I'm mentally not old enough to empathize with them.  If they need someone to identify with traumatic life experiences, mentally, I'm pretty old in that department.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Age Difference on the Path (1/3/2008 1:59:30 PM)

I have always been with "older men", but as I age myself, I am trying to select for men closer to my age group. Those old guys, they die and leave you way sooner than the young ones, yanno?

Really younger men---and I mean those younger than 35---just don't work for me because there is just too great a cultural gap.

He is 27 years younger than I and the first one to show an inkling of what itt takes to Master me.
It's not age, or indeed how many times one has been around the block. Its whether the blocks are still blocking that makes the difference.

i have always been strict that a woman is at least 10 years (usually 20-30) older than me, whether ot be casual, vanilla or Ds; and i have been with a woman who is only 4 years older than me... i love Her and my devotion is no lesser than it would be if She were older

as i've said before, my submission and my love is not dependent on an arbitrary checklist of attributes

i'm a happy boy

Sometimes that's not only a benefit, but an objective.  Just ask Anna Nicole... well... take my word for it.

P.S. - Why do husbands die before their wives?  Because they want to.

I'm not sure why, "Whatever works for you," isnt' a valid answer unless you're simply looking for people to agree with you and there is a rigid age selection process involved. For a lot of us, there's not.

My current houshold, both collared and not, are 26, 38, 43, 48 and 54. I just turned 37 about a week and a half ago. I just don't choose using age. I choose based on the calling I feel for them.

agoodgirl4Daddy -> RE: Age Difference on the Path (1/3/2008 2:36:12 PM)

like so many other things....

it depends on the person

there are 25 year olds who are mature beyond their years..and there are 55 year olds who act like spoiled 3 year olds.

that would, i believe, depend on the two persons within the relationship.

however i personally would make a dominant's age an issue since i would have trouble submitting to someone quite younger than me.  that's why i searched for someone around Daddy's age or older.

Sub03 -> RE: Age Difference on the Path (1/3/2008 3:15:11 PM)

Age isnt a factor for me at all, although I do go for older guys way more then younger. My Master is 56 and I am 23 and it works perfectly for us.

Time to just smack my head. [sm=ofcourse.gif] We need a little guy icon with a bat, beating a dead horse on the ground.

If you know how to put that into a post, email me on the other side and tell me how! I can never remember!

That's one of the things I've always noticed about these May-December relationships. Nothing wrong them - whatever floats your boat... but they always seem to be someone in their 40s-50s with someone in their 20s-30s. You never seem to hear from the crowd with someone in their 80s and the other in their 50s. It seems like a viable concept until you extrapolate is down the road a piece.

Unless the older party has money. Then I can dig it. [;)]
