I am the type who prefers to have his life exceed his art. As many of you may or may not know. I am creating a BDSM themed Massive multiplayer Online Role Playing game called Underworld MMO. This discussion, tis topic has been one of the BIGGEST sources of hair pulling frustration of the whole 5 year development cycle. What are the various types of Dom/Sub Master/Slave I have to detail these things in the game world all the way down to a mathematical level. Coming up with rues and limits and meanings very precise very detailed. So these concepts and their meanings have taken on a whole new meaning when, for example... you need to know "what is the word for a Dom/Sub relationship where if the Dom dies the sub dies" versus "What is the word for a Dom/sub relationship where if the Master dies the Sub will be able to find his body" I won't waste someone else's thread on more .. Suffice it to say that the myriad definitions of commitment and autonomy of Subs within the Dom/Sub structure (using the SAME words) has been perplexing to say the least. Compound that with the fact that I am actually a Master/Slave sort of guy who is in a relationship with a sub and seeks a full 24/7 Slave while at the same time still maintaining a less extreme (in terms of autonomy or limits) relationship with my sub. How do we talk around the house about certain words even.. forget the whole concepts.. just the WORDS without some sort of confusion? I apologize for offending with my previous posts. I rarely rant, and lately, i have felt the need to do so. To clarify some things. I have submitted to others in non sexual ways in order to gain certain pieces of knowledge I have needed in the past. Some of those things were military lessons, Martial Arts lessons, Life lessons, mental lessons, and even Sexual Lessons. I have never submitted to anyone to be a sexual SLAVE or a servant for THEIR sexual pleasure. Sorry for the mix up. And yes, when I have submitted to certain beings, there was no limit. And that was even tested more than once. While I did have fear that I would lose my life, that was part of the lesson. Some lessons cannot be learned if there are limits. While everyone doesn't have an interest in exploring those pieces of knowledge, nevertheless, they are there for the taking. I rarely apologize because I prefer to be aware and intelligent before I open my mouth. I DO TOTALLY admit, after reading what I wrote above, that I spoke without care or sensitivity or feeling or caring for others when I wrote several things. To say that someone whose idea of devotion is different from mine "Has no idea" what it means is a totally inappropriate thing to say. I simply was looking back into my own past at from the viewpoint of those who taught me the meaning of those words. And the way I said what I said was in the style which it was said to me "You Americans have no idea of the meaning of the words devotion and focus" I should have had a tighter reign and watch over my own words when trying to communicate my experiences. Which brings me to my last point. Yes, you are totally correct, they totally understand who they are and what they want. Communicating it is the problem. I simply want to somehow have a better idea of a common language that we of various schools can use to communicate. I personally need to learn more about Dom/Sub (meaning less than absolute or involving love on both sides) relationships. I look forward to reading your book. At the same time, I want to be able to have a way to communicate with my Sub and my Slave as well so that everyone in house knows what I am talking about and there are no offended parties. It would be cool if we, as a community, could come up with some sort of classifications or methods to differentiate the various meanings and types of Dom and Sub somehow. I am on that over working the next couple years anyways (I have to do so for a BDSM MMORPG I am writing) but I would love input from the actual community before I go running off to create such a "Guide"
