What would you do if John McCain decided to be a Democrat? Juliani use to be a Democrat.

Party really does not mean anything. All these politicians only joined one party or the other for the support to begin with. There biggest decission on which party to join most likly came from looking a the majority votes in there home community.

For the most part, no matter what was said or done, my home town always voted democrat. We had one guy start off as a republican. He gave his speech, spoke his beliefs, and proposed life changing ideas. He didn't win. Then he became a democrat and repeated word for word what he said as a republican. The guy won.

I see idiots all the time who check on the ballet all d or all r without never knowing the canidates or hearing a single speech.

If you don't know  a person on a ballet, why would you let a little letter by your name determine who to check? After all, the person with that little "d" might be a very conservitive person who only went with the Democratic Party to get your vote. It happens all the time.

Wanker, Obama's not black enough though.
I'd like to see Al Sharpton run.

Hell, how about Flava Flav? 50 Cent? Is Willie Horton still alive? After all, he won the election for George I, and as a result was indirectly responsible for getting us into Iraq in the first place... i'm sure he'd be a fine man for the job.

i'm not going to vote for somebody because of their gender or race, and i don't consider electing a "minority" to be a sign of "progress". i'll vote for the person with the PLAN to give me back my rights and my damned money.

A Clinton/Obama / Obama/Clinton ticket may win in CA, WA, DC,  CO, NY, and the goddamned Oprah Winfrey show, but it's going nowhere with the rest of the population. How the fuck do you expect the President of the United States to negotiate on an equal footing with the rest of the world leaders if they've seen her CRYING on goddamned television??? Cynical pandering and short-sighted idiocy, criminals and fools.

But, yeah, Huckabee might actually be even worse than that. Any Canadians on the board looking to adopt?

Dear PetDave,

While I agree with most of what you wrote, I was somewhat taken aback with your "got us into Iraq in the first place" comment.  Don't look now, but a serious, civilized nation that is an ally of the US is emerging from the rubble of Arab dysfunction.  I know as I have been there.

Oh, and by the way...Petraeus in 2012 and beyond.

Best regards

I don't pretend to know what is going on with your election process, I only pick up snippets of information off the tv, and some of what I read here and other forums,(forums contain real people, voters, I am interested to hear what real people say, not newspaper reports and speculations).

What I do see with you in the US, is a need for change, most of you want change, and I very much hope that you get that change, hopefully for the better, from whoever gets to the White House.

Whatever happens in the US, affects the politics of the rest of the world and maybe then, we will get a change for the better.

I'll tell you up front, Obama is not going to get my vote just because he's black. Hilary is not going to get my vote just because she's a woman.

......................

It takes words, actions, and a look at there past to earn my vote. Race nor Gender is a factor to me. Capice?

What a very sensible post.

Yes - it'd be good for an Afro American to win - but not any Afro American, just for the sake of "proving" something. Yes, it'd be good for a woman to win - but not any woman, just for the sake of "proving" something.

We - and by that I mean us in the rest of the world - need a US president who is capable of living up to the "Leading The Free World"TM label. Please, choose the Democrat candidate well.

Lady E, Thatcher brought in some good policies and some bad ones ( yes i do remember ..lol ).

One point that will apply here though is this. The fact she even made Britains first female PM, was good in as much as that from then on, Women saw that getting to the very top was possible. On that point alone either Obama or Clinton would be good for America.

What I think is funny is the media.   They come just short of throwing everyone out but the latest winner on whatever side.   It's like - well no one else can win.   Seems to me it happened in so many words after Iowa and now NH.

LadyE, that's just what I don't want, a president who sticks his nose into the business of foreign countries.
And anyone who thinks that they're being elected to be "the "leader" of the free world" should drop out of the race.
That's not the job description.

The first time I saw Hillary Clinton on TV something in me said that, if any woman could make it to the White House it was her.  She was the strong woman behind a weak man.  If she makes it she's going to rattle a lot of cages...just by being female.  She'll make an exceptional president. Obama?  Maybe in 2016.

I hear you, but I think it comes with the job under "any other duties as described or required from time to time".

The problem is that regardless of the president, the US as a whole is deeply involved all over the world in many ways, so it cant be avoided without total isolationism - including, and most relevantly in the commercial sphere.

Just to get your blood boiling, Obama's grandma was on BBC last night - she's Kenyan and thankfully not in the areas where the troubles are. Her wish is that he become president - and do something for Kenya........

LadyE, so what else is new? Every country in the world looks at the U.S. as to what they can get from us.
Obama's grandma just proves my point!
People are calling for "change" in this country and even Obama and Clinton are using that word a lot in their campaigns.
Change from Clinton and Bush's policies of interventionism and so called "free trade" programs that are nothing more than "outsourcing" programs for big corporations.
In case you guys hadn't noticed the U.S. has had some very bad governance over the last 19 years.

Yep - like us you undoubtedly fund a lot of things all over the world. But also like us - but a lot more so than us, you also gain from the arrangement. The problem really is what we're funding and what our return on it is - and who is getting that return compared to who is providing the funding

Well that's easy, the Taxpayers do the "funding" and the Corporations do the "Benefiting."

I believe Obama was raised Muslim. I also have seen pictures of him being sworn into a public office with a koran instead of a bible. Hes also been known not put his hand over his heart during the plede of allegiance.
No way can any American with any intelligence vote for that type of person, black or otherwise.
And the "The Hiliary" is using crying tactics.
Theres no crying in politics.
Really makes it hard to vote democrat.

The Democrat? Can't I just choose Juliani. He use to be a democrat. Plus, he's still a libral politician who belives in Gay Marriage and a Womans right to choose.

I'm hoping to give the Libritarians a chance.  After all, how much worse can they do than the Democrats and Republicans?

Rather than a woman, or a minority, I happen to think that the next president needs to be either a 3rd Party or an Independent. It's about time that we showed the Democrats and Republicans what the USA voters are made of.  We really need to give the old politics a message that "We're not going to take it anymore!" Any real libral who wants change should think about it.

That wasn't Obama. That's someone from Minnesota, if I recall correctly. Obama's father was African, and he was raised Christian.
