let's see!  the US invaded Iraq & Afghanistan, the Persian Gulf War in defense of many murdered and pursecuted innocent muslims.  problem is we should have finished the job while we were there!

so the lives lost at pearl harbour had no bearing on the US joining the allies in ww2?

if the US joined ww2 for the money, then why did they not join it sooner so they could have made money sooner instead of allowing americans to suffer the after effects of the depression era?  it would have been cool had they joined ww2 sooner and ended that suffering sooner!

Man..you know...you're right.  The President declared war just to right the wrong of Pearl Harbor.  There was no other unaltruistic reason like money or anti-fascism.  You must be right.  It was an act purely out of the goodness of his heart.    Get real.

I am through arguing with you.  Obviously you have no bearing on historical events.  Read a book, then come back at me with your nationalism crap.

oh my!  ww2 was not for money, like you stated in one of ur previous post!  that is what i was trying to imply.  you are the one that forgot about the genocide &  invasions by nazi germany and the attack on pearl harbour.  i did only mention pearl harbour because u said the US joined the allies in ww2 for money, i am not stupid!  i know ww2 was more than pearl harbour.  but it did take pearl harbour to wake this country up!  crimes were being committed on innocent people in europe and this country/our government did nothing until we were forced too!

very similar situation in the middle east.  i know that there are innocent good muslims being persecuted there, but not by americans.  many are being victimized by their own government and their own people!  many were gased, bodies rotting in the street by their own leader.

the world is not all hunky doory like you believe it is!  the real world is mean and ugly.  i do not need to read a book to know that!

read ur history book!  the US has a place in this world.  and that is to defend the weak.  how many times in history has this country showed up in support of the weak.  but there have been many times we haven't showed up and should have.

i am an american and if that makes me full of nationalist crap, then so be it!

Please don't tell me you are naive enough to think that we went to war to stop the genocide...or did you forget the prison camps America had for its Japanese and German citizens...

I'm an American too...doesn't mean I can't disagree with it.

I did read my history book.  Oh wait...that's right...got my degree in history...spent my last year studying the Holocaust and the causes of WWII.

But...you're probably right.  I don't know anything.

Just to clue you in...that was sarcasm...as was my post before that.  You really are clueless, aren't you?  I feel sorry for you.

ehrm...I came over here to chime in, but apparently my favorite kitten has done plenty without me...soo...

all Id like to add is...Daddy says if I really feel like it I can go through his military records and give specific dates he was stationed in Muslim countries in the 80's and 90's (uhm, just in case you didnt realize, that would be before 9/11)

actually, I have alot more things Id rather be doing with my time today though.

nope, yer definantly the one with the sexy voice...

Anyway, to answer the OPs question: Veitnam is hot, wet, and full of vietnamese, Iraq is hot, dry, and full of arabs. Veitnam has better food. And prettier archetecture IMO.

Ahhhh...but did you ever see the Iraq museum before it was looted Ghita...treasures of art and architecture from the Persians back to the Mesopotamians, unrivaled by anything else.

To me, that is one of the worst outcomes of this war.  The loss of that priceless art and history.  But, I'm a nerd.  So there you go.

And your voice is way sexier than mine...with that little accent...sooo cute!

well it is soooooo obvious that us old people are lost, uneducated and totally wrong about everything!

since my kind has totally messed up the country and bullied innocent people overseas, let's now pass the torch to the next generation and see just how they make the world all hunky doorey!

i truly believe everyone interpets what they read differently and that includes the history books.

oh and i was lucky enough to meet the late Prime Minister Bhutto of Pakistan when she visited the US in 2002.  she was gunned down by the muslim extremist you defend.  she was a great leader.  she wanted peace for her country.  she had a big heart.  tell me, can we blame this tragedy on american greed?

I never said that.  I was merely referring to your knowledge in this situation.  In this instance, you are lost, uneducated and know nothing.  I can't say for certain how you are in other situations, but I could hazard a guess.

For that matter, I know alot of older people to whom I turn for their wealth of knowledge and life's wisdom.  You're just not one of them.

obviously u do not know me!  i think i am probably twice ur age.  i have a right to my own opinions, just as you do!  for u to say i am uneducated, lost and totally wrong is very wrong of you.  believe me, you will come face to face with alot of people in your future journies that will have totally opposite views, interpetations and recollections of history.  but that does not make them wrong and you right!  it just makes them different.  from what i have read in the history books, having different beliefs and views does not make a person crap!  this is a free country and i do have a right to say what i believe, just as you do.  i do not deserve to be told my opinion is uneducated and told i know nothing.

good luck to you.  i hope you had fun with your insults.

Before spouting off rhetoric that has been created by our media and those idiots that are currently running our country, it would behove you to actually do some studying of middle eastern history. Especially the religious history.

We have no one but ourselves to blame for 9-11. Also, contrary to popular belief, the only thing our current presence in Iraq and 9-11 have in common is the sales pitch the spin doctors put on it to sell it to the american public. Obviously it worked quite well.

To no one in particular...WE were invite to Nam to help the government to try to hold back the north, yes we got our ass whipped there just because the Johnson bunch wouldn't let the Generals fight the war the proper way,Take a hill today and give it up tommorrow at the cost of many lives..... and  just went  blasting into Iraq without ever thinking how we were going to get out, very bad planning by the bush bunch and we may get our heads handed to us there as well, bush one should have finished the damm job in the first place.....I have been all over the world in the miltary and yes in the Philippines and other Muslim country's as an adviser..Plain and simple most muslims offer us three choices..Covert or die or we kill them...So the question remains what are you going to do...Of course as always just the opinion of this ol' master...

I never said that you were not entitled to you opinion.

I said that your facts were incorrect, and that your point of view was uneducated. Your lack of research in these areas is obvious, hence my statements, both of which were fact.  You are entitled to your own opinions, but you have to learn that when you misrepresent information, you will be called on it.

You're right.  I don't know you, and I don't care to.  I don't care if you are twice my age or not; what on earth does that have to do with this conversation?

very uncalled for!

you have made ur point here by using sarcasim and insults alot of the time.  you deny that muslims are a threat to americans.  i may not have a degree in history, but i can read and hear!  like i eluded to in an earlier post, 9/11
sent a message to me and many other americans.  our borders can be breached by the enemy.  invasion is a reality.  no matter what, we cannot sit back and do nothing.  when america's streets are overrun with the muslim terrorist u defend, what will you do?  say we brought it on ourselves and accept it?

Uncalled for, in your opinion.  Which you are of course, entitled too.  I found in amusing myself, which I am entitled too.

I do not believe that Muslims are a threat to America.  They have every right to be here.  I believe that jihad extremists are a threat to America, but they are a threat to the UK, France, and many other places.

Yes, our borders can be breached by the enemy.  However, perhaps the enemy also comes from within our own borders, by our own people.  Yes, there are threats to American safety, but that doesn't mean that we should persecute every Muslim for the actions of a few.

Well, when American streets are run over with Muslim terrorists, or when it has become the close-minded, prejudicial and persecuting world that fanatics like you create (much like the world in V for Vendetta)...well....I suppose I will move to England or France.  They have socialized healthcare.

I use sarcasm.  Lots of people do.  Deal with it, or stay out of the fire.

I would, and have, voiced my opinion to families of 9-11 victims. It is not mean. Never once did I say that THEY deserved it. I said "We have only ourselves to blame" WE, meaning our country as a whole and specifically the politicians that WE vote to represent our country that created the negativity in the first place. If the families of the 9-11 dead and injured wish to place blame on anyone they should look in their own yard first.

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that terrorism, especially victimizing innocent parties,  is the correct way to deal with anything. It isn't. Yet our own country has utilitized and or condoned the very same tactics multiple times. Our hands are not free of that bloody guilt either.

If you have any real knowledge of the muslim faith and the history of the middle east you would actually understand their animostity towards the United States. It is not unfounded. WE, as a nation, have created our own filthy bed. Therefor WE, as a nation, suffer the consequences. It is also up to WE, as a nation, to recognise, admit the error of our ways and take the steps to correct them. It isn't going to be quick, easy or fun. But if we don't, events like 9-11, will only become more common.
