I recently had a beading done (where a pattern of beads are sewn into your skin) and I LOVED it! I'd like to have a full back piece done and I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas for a pattern or knows of any sites that show such beadings. Also, I'd like to hear other's experiences with it.

Ugghhh, I have tons of beading books, patterns, actually any graphed pattern will work (cross stitch, needlepoint, etc.)... are you looking for something specific?

I'm trying not to be squicked, it's not my thing , but I'll help you with a pattern as long as you promise not to show me a picture when it's finished.

Erin, have you seen the video Pagan Poetry by bjork?  That has beading on that.  It's beautiful.

Hahaha.  She can always do a cute little country cross stitch pattern.

Great. Now I'm picturing a little "Home Sweet Home" thing on the pubic mound or ass. I blame you.

Erin, sorry I don't know anything about this sort of beading. Can you use any pattern or do you need ones made specifically for this?

You can use any pattern. I have fairies tattoed on my back and was thinking along the lines of butterflies and dragonflies....or maybe some Celtic patterns. I will try to post a few pics of the one I had done...if photobucket will let me.

This site will generate a graphed chart for you of any words or phrases you want, in a "celtic" style (think calligraphy).  After you type in the words and click "create new pattern", just scroll down for the chart:  http://www.celticxstitch.ie/cgi-bin/stitches.cgi

Free patterns here of celtic knotwork:  http://crosstitch.com/celtic.shtml

This article has some links in it to free patterns:  http://crafts.lovetoknow.com/wiki/Celtic_Cross_Stitch_Design

I've frequently used cross stitch patterns to do beading on fabric, so if your bead artist uses a graphed pattern, that should work for you also.

Sounds neat! How does it come off, just fall off or do you take it out?

Edited cause I didn't see you'd already answered my first question right above me.

We did this one on the spur of the moment with no real pattern...but we will definitely want a well designed pattern when we do it again.

The amout of time that the sutures can remain in place depends on many factors.  Location, type of suture, risk of infecion, how agressive one is with the area they are in, how clean the area remains while in place, and proper site cleansing before suturing begins. I have left some in for up to 10 days and they could have stayed in longer if the site was cleansed daily and better care was taken. It's just like any other suture site which can normally stay in for two weeks. Things to look out for are any signs of infecion.
Note: These are only my recommendations and you should not perceive this as medical advice. If in question, consult a medical professional.
