Asherdelampyr -> looking for resources (1/9/2008 8:02:22 PM)

This may seem like a stupid question, but what are some of the best books/methods that can be used to help me become a better dom?

www.takeninhand.com  is a wonderful place for resources.

Rover -> RE: looking for resources (1/9/2008 8:16:46 PM)

DomSubFriends has one of the most complete reference guides around.

This question has been asked more than once. The "search" function on your right hand screen will lead you to those threads of what many have suggested.

But hell, you might as well read GOR, Anne Rices Sleeping Beauty series, and everything by Marqi de Saude.

Those books will get you started in the right direction for being a more creative dom if nothing else.

Ive read Anne Rice's books, never read GOR but have read a lot of the Marquis de Sade's stuff. Also Rover, that site you linked is kick ass, thanks a ton.

Hello Asherdelampyr. More knowledge is always better, and no it will not make you a better dom (or sub). It all depends on what you do with this knowledge, what you choose to use and what you choose to ignore. Knowledge may "empower" you, but you can still abuse this power. It all depends on what "mastery" you have of yourself, not of other's. RL.

I dont expet knowledge on its own to help me, though new idead are always good, thanks for the advice however

Dear Asherdelampyer, Ladies and Gentlemen;

I would check with local BDSM support and education groups, as some have their own library.

Internet resources are good:  www.iron-rose.com library section is good.

Books are great for methods, 'how to' techniques and the like.  However, it only helps a person to be a better technical whipper, bondage TOP and the like.

You wish to be a better Dominant?  The answer starts with you--what is your spirit of intentions leading you.

Do you have 'heros' in which inspires you and that you admire?  What 'traits' do these heros have to wish to pursue the same traits and to put them into practice?  What kind of Dominant do you really want to be?  There are no right or wrong answers--these are answers that are only tailored to you as an individual.

Spirit of intentions--be it evil or for good--will/can/may/shall possess the technical skills of bondage, whip work and or the mechanics of authority and submission to it--what is important is knowing what reasons you pursue the quest to be a better Dominant for and build your reputation not on just what you know but, including what you do and apply the knowledge you've collected.

Just some thoughts.

Respectfully submitted for consideration,
Lady Hugs

I want to be the type of soft spoken dom that helps a sub go beyond what they thought possible. That probably sounds corny as hell dont it? :P

Not corny, just honest and from the heart, and very doable. I know a few very soft spoken doms that inspire their subs more than they even sometimes realize.

I agree...Dominance has very little to do with bullying.....I am very proud to have a Man that can, and does inspire me in such a way.

LadyHugs -> RE: looking for resources (1/10/2008 9:23:59 PM)

Dear Asherdelampyr, Ladies and Gentlemen;

Other than raising my voice so an assembly of individuals can hear my presentation; I find that I do not have to raise it at all unless its to rise above the noise of the enviorment.

Being authentic to yourself first, you'll never have to pretend in being what everybody 'thinks' you should be.

The 'Quiet' Dominants are more powerful than most realize.  While people look at the noise makers, the quiet ones work behind the scenes.

Just some thoughts.

Lady Hugs

snowandsub -> RE: looking for resources (1/11/2008 3:43:38 PM)

my Dom is a soft spoken gentle Man who no-one will cross and i totally feel submissive towards. he has pushed my limits further and further becuase i hear the trust in his voice. it is very like the saying of 'catch more flies with honey than vinegar'.

Asherdelampyr -> RE: looking for resources (1/11/2008 5:42:56 PM)

I come from a very quiet family, Ive never seen the point in getting loud.

Asherdelampyr -> RE: looking for resources (1/11/2008 7:08:08 PM)
