Aimtoplease101 -> Cats or dogs (1/9/2008 10:44:50 PM)

I recently had a conversation with a Domme who stated that, in her experience, dominant women were generally dog people whereas submissive ones are generally cat people.  I hadn't heard that association before.  But on some level it makes some sense-- dogs generally are more obedient (submissive) whereas cats are kind of aloof and independent.

Without inviting any more "dominant pussy" jokes (reference to a recent post for those reading who don't keep track of such things), does your experience bear out this observation?

Regards, ATP

No. I'm D with a pussy. And a cat.

*pets the pussy... and the cat*

(Tacky yes, but it had to be done.  There's no way to give only one attention without the other getting moody. :-)

A sub with 4 dogs

ElanSubdued -> RE: Cats or dogs (1/9/2008 10:54:33 PM)

Okay.  Back on topic now.  I'm not sure if this lends empirical credibility, but what the heck.  I'm submissive and most definitely a cat person (although I don't mind dogs either).

Elan.

Yeah, somehow I doubt this poll will qualify for publication with statistical certainty, but it's kind of fun D/s "cocktail banter," you know?

SweetDommes -> RE: Cats or dogs (1/10/2008 12:12:47 AM)

Holly is more of a dog person, but loves all animals (cats, rats, hamsters, birds, frogs, turtles, etc ... the list could go for hours) - all Domme

I'm more of a cat person, but I love most animals (leave out most reptiles and I'm not fond of birds or the frog ... which looks like a blob with eyes, for the record) - switch

rob is definitely a dog person - he hates the cats, and thinks that we need to cut back on the critters - all sub.

Ma'am has Her domikitty/masochitty Yuki-Onna, and She has me who sometimes plays with the toys more than Yuki does

MizKittenD -> RE: Cats or dogs (1/10/2008 12:32:50 AM)

I'm a Domme with a cat, and my housemate is a Dom with a dog. Funny enough, but when I moved it, he mentioned the same thing.

MissA -> RE: Cats or dogs (1/10/2008 1:00:41 AM)

I have one masocat, a sub-puppy, and a small horse masquerading as a german shepherd mix. I can't make this stuff up...

I'm a bird/cat person. I like pets that are challenging and dogs just dont do it for me, although once had a great yorkshire terrier that thought she was a rottie in disguise and who disappeared for nearly an hour after attaching herself very firmly to the thigh of a 6'5 tall jehovah witness that came to our house - she returned home looking very pleased for herself.

I love this quote regarding people/dogs:
I loathe people who keep dogs. They are cowards who haven't got the guts to bite people themselves.

I am a Domme with 2 freakishly large nuetered catboys whoooo happen to be very obedient. *smiles* Who's the Domme!  lol.  The boys come to me when called by name, get down or stop doing things when I ask, and cuddle on command (really, I just say to them "cuddle" and pat my hand on my lap or beside me and they hop right up and curl up spoon style)...they also like to ride in the car.

However ,I love dogs too.  If my life could accomodate dogs, bunnies, goats, chickens, horses, donkeys, parrots, ferrets, etc I would love to have the whole menagerie around.

Now I just borrow my friend's pups to get a dog fix every now and then.

Cats are convinient and fairly low maintenance so work into busy urban lives comfortably.

Ohhh I should add that I've met both cats and dogs that I do not like ...just as I have met people that I just do not care for.

MistressOfGa -> RE: Cats or dogs (1/10/2008 1:24:22 AM)

I have two dogs and then I have my pup <s>
Interestedly enough, he loves cats. We had 5 cats at one point. All of them just as bossy as can be [:D]

MissMorrigan -> RE: Cats or dogs (1/10/2008 2:39:59 AM)

My male cat is very submissive, he sits and lays down on command, and as he's a maine coone he chirrups when I'm talking with him but always waits until I tell him he can speak before he does so. He'll sit down with me and have his paw in my hand as if we're holding hands, I'm sure he thinks he's human and even enjoys having a bath!

The female is another story, she refuses to be dominated and looks on me disdainfully when I try to get her to obey me.

Both cost an absolute fortune what with their daily dose of Hills feline maintenance, two pouches of Sheba, fresh steak thrice weekly and prawns (which I have to wiggle about to make it seem like they're still 'alive' for the cats to hunt/kill) every two weeks (no more frequently b/c of the high taurine in them which can cause liver problems if given more frequently to cats. They cost around £15 a week at least to feed... it'd be cheaper for me to get a dog, they eat practically any old thing and are walking waste disposals.

There's a lot to be said for having stick insects as pets and I'd dearly love to have a ferret, but that will have to wait until we get our house.

I have three dogs and a cat. I like both, but I have to say in general I am more of a dog person. I like dogs because they are fun to spend time with. I can take them on walks, go outside and toss the frisbee around or just sit on the couch and lounge. Its all good to them.

I have an adorable shaggy puppy (19 weeks old) with an appalling shoe fetish.  He is at my feet right now chewing through a navy patent leather stiletto.

And he loves sticking his head right into my shoes and licking the insoles.  Yes, I know its disgusting, but what can I say.....he's just a puppy!

workingboi -> RE: Cats or dogs (1/10/2008 4:51:23 AM)

I have two cats. Both have been abandoned. A 3 year old male and a 15 week old female kitten who loves to harass the male...  [:)]

Both goto bed with me at night and wake me up in the morning, they are lovely and keep me going. And both wait for me to come home too. Who says animals are dumb.

I was going to name the kitten something cute but then my best friend and roommate called her a hellraiser...so that's her name now. Because she's hell with a tail!!

kittish -> RE: Cats or dogs (1/10/2008 4:57:38 AM)

I have one little cat who is, I swear, a switch. One minute she's a total submissive slut, and the next she's DEMANDING that I give her treats or play or share my food.

urtoy -> RE: Cats or dogs (1/10/2008 4:59:36 AM)

It seems dogs must be trained in order to be liveable. According to the "dog whisperer", tyhe secret to dog training is the owner establishing him/herself as the dominant one as dogs tend to engage in "pack behavior" where there is a struggle to be "top dog". As a submissive, I have neither the talent nor the inclination to be bothered with this, although I do like dogs in general. Cats require no training; the only training going on around here is my cat training me to better serve him.

MsBearlee -> RE: Cats or dogs (1/10/2008 5:07:59 AM)

I have always had large dogs (right now I have an Akbash Dog who is 30" at shoulder)...but often cats as well.  No more cats though, for these reasons:     http://www.collarchat.com/m_1517877/mpage_1/tm.htm#1518114

Course, at various times I have also had such pets as: snakes, iguanas, lizards, mice, hamsters, parakeets, a Tarantella, a shrew, a scorpian, turtles of various sizes...all fairly easy to keep as pets.
oh, and a boy, once.  <smiles>
