We have two dogs. Mine is a golden retriever . A cat knocked over a chair when he was a pup and broke his leg. Now he is the biggest wuss in the world. kittens is a beagle, and when he came into our home he took over, and totally Dominates mine.   I still maintain that if aliens ever do land on earth, they will think the dogs are in charge. You don't see them picking up our poop, do you?

I have actually found that more Dominant women have horses---

I have 6 cats, a dog and three horses--the partridge in the pear tree passed away. <smiles.

RumpusParable -> RE: Cats or dogs (1/10/2008 10:26:51 AM)

Domina with two cats here, but love dogs equally well...  and goats and ducks and rats and all sorts of animals.  If I had my way I'd be back to living on a little quasi-farm with lots of animals.  But, I can only have two so we chose cats.  They're the favorite.

ShaktiSama -> RE: Cats or dogs (1/10/2008 10:36:45 AM)

I like both.  [:)]

MissHarlet -> RE: Cats or dogs (1/10/2008 10:41:16 AM)

I like both but at this time have a very dominant female chihuahua and a sub male yorkie .. if he dares come in the door before her .. she chases him out and then walks in before him .. as he trails quietly in behind.

HelenaTroy -> RE: Cats or dogs (1/10/2008 10:44:34 AM)

I'm not entirely convinced that liking cats or dogs has to do with being dominant or submissive. I think it is just a preference.

But I have another theory that people who are a little low on self esteem or self confidence gravitate more to dogs because dogs provide validation and an eagerness to please and play and cuddle, which makes the owner feel more important.

Cats, on the other hand, do better with humans who are more secure in themselves and have a higher sense of self because they aren't so eager to please and act aloof.

And for those of you who are going to draw the correlation between dogs who are eager to please and subs who are eager to please, let me remind you that there are oh so many subs who are eager to be pleased, rather than vice versa. Subs are such attention whores sometimes.

~fr~

...submissive and definately a cat person although my last pet was a hen who was extremely dominant to my boyfriend's chocolate lab..

MissHarlet -> RE: Cats or dogs (1/10/2008 10:48:41 AM)

LOL Seems we can have a theory for almost anything ... I love it .. and here I thought it was just that I love animals ... I like another that posted here would love to have a mini farm .. if I had a submissive to actually take care of all of the animals for me.

KnOcala -> RE: Cats or dogs (1/10/2008 11:42:03 AM)

I am a dog person no doubt.

ItalianSMistress -> RE: Cats or dogs (1/10/2008 12:43:36 PM)

I have never heard that before.  I do know, however, that many lesbians, including Myself prefer cats.  We have always said that a cat is a dykes best friend eh.  Personally, I have not had a cat for many years now, but do love them, but I only keep human pets now,,,less clean up, LOL

MissJana -> RE: Cats or dogs (1/10/2008 12:47:23 PM)

Definitely a cat person. I am a dominant who owns two cats. Though I think they may be in charge. LOL

Indeed. I'm a big fan of all pet-like animals.

Except for spiders. Horrible, horrible spiders. >_<

Cats and dogs are equally cool, though.

eevin -> RE: Cats or dogs (1/10/2008 2:45:04 PM)

This is actually quite interesting, and i started running through my mind people i know who own pets and how they are in their lives.  My mother is VERY cominant, and prefers dogs (she HATES cats because they are so independent).  My father isn't so dominant, but more easy going and willing to let others carry him along.  But he's a ver strong dog person as well.  i'm submissive.  i like dogs.  but i prefer cats (for lots of other reasons besides their independence).

i've talked to more Dominants who have cats than i have dogs.  Of course that might also be because i tend to be attracted to people who prefer cats anyway, since my babies are such a central part of my life.  So i can completely understand where that idea comes from (that Doms prefer dogs, and subs prefer cats) because it really seems to fit.  But its not a distinct rule that i can point out as accurant most of the time, i'm sorry to say.

Dilseachd -> RE: Cats or dogs (1/10/2008 4:10:18 PM)

I have had three Dominants and all were cat lovers...same as me.

SweetDommes -> RE: Cats or dogs (1/10/2008 4:26:42 PM)

about the whole theory of secure people preferring cats and less secure people prefering dogs ... not at this house.  I'm the least secure person in the house, and I would rather have a pride of cats than dogs, no matter how much I love my Shih Tzus.  I will always have a cat, but when my Shihs go, I don't know if I will get more dogs or not.  Holly and rob are both dog people and they are far more secure than I am.

PsyVamp -> RE: Cats or dogs (1/10/2008 4:40:34 PM)

I'm a dominant with two dogs, a cat and a rat.  The dogs came first but I've always liked animals of all sorts.  I've also had iguanas in the past.

Aimtoplease101 -> RE: Cats or dogs (1/10/2008 5:02:50 PM)

Now what in the world can having iguanas be interpreted to mean?  You're into objectification???   Don't even get me started with goats or guinea pigs ....

ocilla -> RE: Cats or dogs (1/10/2008 5:08:23 PM)

Ahh yes the songbird descimation by domestic cats is very real.  Also they take out voles, chipmonks, lizards, frogs and any other wiggly critter they can get their freddy cruegger paws on.

If you've cats that go outdoors there are all kinds of extra attention they should have.  Collars with a bell or some noise maker will preserve the bird population, but shots, microchips, and more vet care in general have been required whn I have allowed the boys to go outdoors.  They are both 17 yrs now so although still fiesty and active being outdoors at will just doesn't happen anymore.

vampchick88 -> RE: Cats or dogs (1/10/2008 5:10:14 PM)
