Oh yes, and most cats will do that.  You are their human, you do as they wish, lol.  One could learn alot about being a Dom/me from a cat.  They are the domestic animal kingdoms little Dom/me's, really they are.  But I love them too...I love all animals, really.

Cats preferred but dogs are alright for me.  I prefer the fact that cats are more independant...I don't want EVERYTHING I own to need attention 24/7.

I'm a Domme with multiple cats.  However, there is definitely one alpha cat that is above the rest.

Don't even get me started with goats or guinea pigs ....

Awww come on atp, billy goats are fun.  They are highly entertaining, produce milk that is very useful, are very effective at clearing out underbrush in fireprone areas or your overgrown back yard, and there hair makes can be spun into rope or yarn .  I know of a fella in Occidental Cali who has a beautiful organic farm that produces herbal teas sold in places like whole foods.  He has a small herd of goats that he tethers out and about the uncultivated areas of his farm daily, up in the hills, in forest areas with too much underbrush etc.  They are good watch dogs of a sort and when he goes to retrieve them each day he is the lead goat as they all cavort after him down to the pin close to the house.  It is a sight to see. lol.

I'm definitely NOT a cat person.  I think they are lazy and really serve no purpose, but I have adopted a stray cat that was a rat-killin' machine in her prime.  When she first came along, she was very good at it.  She's leave little presents on the porch every morning...a mouse tail, part of the head, a foot.  There was always something to show she has been earning her keep.  Now, she is just a fat, lazy cat who expects to be fed every hour or so.  She's cute, but definitely not the female I serve!

Dogs are my passion.  You can train them to do things, are generally affectionate, and they just want to be loved.  Give me a german shepherd or a border collie over a cat anyday.  They are companions and they get excited whenever they see you.  I like that.  :-)

(fast reply)

Greetings,

My partner and I (two Dominant folks) have two cats - Amanda and Bob.  Bob Fuzzypantz (yes, they have their own last names) is nicknamed "Boober", "Hoover", and "hungry, hungry Hippo".   Amanda Fuzzypantz (they are siblings after all) is simply "Princess".  Both animals are pretty dependant on us and come when called (or when you shake the treat bag).  Bob sucks up when it gets close to feeding time in a bid to make us feed him before it's time.  Amanda just races you to the kitchen and then complains until you 'encourage' her to jump up on her perch, as we won't pick her up and deliver her there ourselves.

We both want a couple of dogs, a few horses, a lamba or 6, some sheep and maybe an alpacha.  But ... these things will have to wait until we live outside of the city on our planned for farm.  We like all animals but find having cats in a city easier to manage and less work on picking up their random droppings (cat's contain their contributions to a single box, after all).

i am naturally a submissive  but i am a  dog person and i can say i strongly dislike cats and its  mostly due to their independent 'i dont need anyone"  attitude.  In relation to Dommes or subs  liking cats or dogs which i never would have considered had it not been for this board post, i would have to  disagree  with the original thought and here is why:   i thrive on pleasing, its my inborn nature and my whole purpose of being as i am a true submissive its not a choice its a need.     the  personality of a dog suits me-- due to dog's showing they are happy or not  due to the actions or words of their owners, or caretakers, by the wagging of their tails, acting all happy when you return home after being out, etc...and this shows your actions made the  dog happy.  where as a cat, (i have some experience being around cats against my preference or choice) you cannot tell what they are thinking or feeling --ever,  lol...therefore the dog showing "approval or being happy or pleased" in my opinion would better suit a  submissive since we ( i ) need to be shown our actions words or behaviors  are pleasing.  just my thoughts.

To the best of my knowledge, dogs are pack animals.  They need to stay with the pack in order to survive.  This is why a dog will come to you when called, and why they are more easily trained.  They NEED you from an evolutionary stand point.  It doesn't matter if you are an axe murder or a child molester, as long as you feed it and don't beat it, a dog will love you all the same.

Cats tend to be more solitary creatures. Sure, lion females hunt in a pack..but if one of them were on their own could they still manage a kill? Yes.  A dog in the wild has a greater chance of dying on it's own.  Cats dont need you.  They are not going to love you just because.  I like cats just for that reason, they pick and choose who they like. They also purr

Don't get me wrong, I like dogs too.  They are always happy to see me when I come home. Teaching tricks is fun too.

I'd probablly have a cat before i'd have a dog (although maybe neither, i don't like the idea of 'owning' someone who doesn't have the abilty to make the choice of being 'owned' or being with me...if i do it'll have to be a rescued or one from a shelter).  I currently rent, it is easier to find a place to live that will rent to me with a cat than with a dog.  Plus cats have lower 'matience fees' .  Although, if you have a cat in your house, you also have a box of urine and fecal matter in your house too.

Well I just have a variety. I am very lucky to have a small hobby farm on a hill overlooking a beautiful valley. Soon I will be able to look out my big windows to see newborn calves frolicking, fawns with their mothers, quail, turkeys and pheasants. The kestrels that always nest in the big oak tree and raise their young. We've always got several litters of coyote pups that entertain in the "hood". I am hoping that the female fox has her kits nearby again this year.

As far as actual aquired animals that live with me. Right now.......(always changing) I have two horses, one cat that thinks he is a dog, two large GSmix rescue dogs, and the new little diva dog. She is now at a whole 7 pounds of ears, attitude, and appetite. Her father is a miniature pinscher and her mother a papillion. And there is always fish in the tanks, mostly cichlids. This spring and summer there will probably be more dogs and horses there for training, then off to new homes.

We've got four felines and an African Grey parrot.

One of the cats enjoys being outdoors most of the time... and he possesses a number of dog-like qualities. He also likes to herd people when he's indoors if he's not immediately scratched or petted. He'll headbutt a few times before switching to wrapping a paw around an ankle, almost always with claws out. He's also about twenty pounds of cat, a good portion of it bone and muscle.

The only female feline is very, very selective about who may touch her and when. She's a shelter kitty - and likely semi-feral before that. Luckily, she was a kitten when she was wrangled. So bit by bit she trusts a little more. However, we've had her for a few years and she still slinks and flies into a frenzy if someone tries to pick her up. She has to invite herself or she flips out. She's tiny and looks a bit like a fuzzy, silver and grey bedroom slipper.

She has a sibling (in that they both came to live with us as kittens and on the same day) and he's a lovely, slightly cross-eyed Siamese. Beautiful and extremely loving. He's my bratling, in particular. Scratches at my door when I've got it shut. Cries right outside my door until he's let in. Cuddles in my lap at every chance he gets. And almost always lays in my lap on his back so that he can look up and watch me when he's first decided to come see me. He's also our resident hunter and has brought both lizards and mice to an untimely demise. And he's got a bell!

And lastly we've got the old man of the group. He's getting on in years and we're not entirely sure how old that is. But he's been losing a bit of weight lately. He, like all of our other furry beasts, is a shelter kitty. He's got plenty of personality and adores catnip, rolls about and sits on his catnip toys... looks like he's trying to hatch them. Some disgusting bit of vile human filth declawed him in the front. If you love your furniture more than a living creature... don't bring one home. They also likely tormented him with a plastic bag at one point, because the sound of them has him running for the hills... or rather behind the couch or under a bed. Bringing in the groceries is always interesting. And if I ever got my hands on his former people I'd show them what for - or at least spit in their eye.

The parrot is a riot. He knows how to mimic each of the cats... so when he sees them he'll often use their meows and trills. He also makes the sound of running water, the squeaking refridgerator door, all three of the doors to our house and a dropping bomb with a small explosion noise... along with an assortment of other fun sounds. He also helpfully dials the telephone, sometimes lacking the correct amount of digits... sometimes going way over. And then he'll have a one-sided conversation, always in my father's voice. "Hello. Uh huh. Uh huh. Yeah. Good-bye." He's also copied other things my father's said in the past, "The Black Bird" ... "The Maltese Falcon" ... My name, bellowed... a profanity followed by my sister's name... and sometimes just profanity in general. Which amuses me to no end when we've got company.

Sir says the same about dogs and cats. I have 4 cats and alpha cat is literally the man of the house the first few times Sir came to visit he litterally had a power struggle with the cat for dominance. Is all good now kitty knows his place when Sir is around and goes back to being top of the heap when Sir leaves

But I have another theory that people who are a little low on self esteem or self confidence gravitate more to dogs because dogs provide validation and an eagerness to please and play and cuddle, which makes the owner feel more important.

Cats, on the other hand, do better with humans who are more secure in themselves and have a higher sense of self because they aren't so eager to please and act aloof.

And for those of you who are going to draw the correlation between dogs who are eager to please and subs who are eager to please, let me remind you that there are oh so many subs who are eager to be pleased, rather than vice versa. Subs are such attention whores sometimes.

Ah, but how about a different perspective- insecure subs who are eager to please might prefer a cat because getting their attention/affection is something of a victory... There are times that i've been late to work because a cat was asleep on my lap

Both of our fluffies were declawed, and one of them is incredibly timid... any time somebody moves suddenly in his presence he cringes like he expects to be hit Makes me so angry...
