99-cent movies, 45 rpm records with the yellow thingie to make them play, Bionic Woman (the real one), Battlestar Galactica (the real one), gathering before the tv for the annual showing of Wizard of Oz and Sound of Music.  When "recording a tv show" meant that you were sitting in front of it with the little cassette tape player, begging everyone in the room to stay quiet.

When baking a potato always took an hour, because there were no microwave ovens, most dishes were washed by hand, and I was jealous when my cousin got PONG! but smug when we got our Atari.

Making prank phone calls, because there was no Caller ID,  the $1.69 beauty pageant, when SNL was funny, the Gong show, the Pacer.

I had skates with keys, my brother had a skinny skateboard, my sister had a bike with a banana seat.  Our door was never locked, not even at night.

When business was handled by phone and letter, and then later by fax.  When the pharmacy made deliveries.  When Coke came in 6oz bottles and was sweetened with SUGAR, not corn syrup.  You could hold the bottle up, and raised lettering on the bottom told you where the bottle was made, how far it had traveled.  You would then return that bottle to the store, and it would continue on its journey.  "I'd like to teach the world to sing." "Al, kiss my grits!"

Dr. Demento on AM Radio.

I remember when the Ice Cream Man would let youhave the cone you wanted even if you didnt have your money with you that day, since he had known you since you were not even tall enough to see in the window and knew you were "good for it" when you got your allowance.

Kick ball games in the abandoned lots

Sneaking onto the beach and starting bonfires

Those fold up paper fortune tellers that you fortold all your friends "true loves" and "best friends for life"

Plastic necklaces in neon colors with little plastic charms that you saw how many you could actually tolerate wearing around your neck

DV
-feeling dated. Fox remembers... the Clinton presidency *sigh*

oh yes Atari!!! I had one of those, the black one with little switches and "cartridge", fake wood on the sides of the game console. Two remotes with stick and one red button....

then I had a second Atari, with keyboard and a casette deck (separate) to load games...since they were pirated games, the good ones could take half an hour to load...while making a loud whirring noise...later replaced by floppy disk drive. My favorite game was "Boulder Dash", a crazy ant...

recording shows on VHS, carying a cassette player boombox like it was the bomb... hahaha!

I remember...
PET computers in Kindergarten.  Old school Nintendo and Sega.  My first internet connection.  Captain Caveman.
Thinking the woods were magical.  Using fallen branches to have fake sword fights.  Digging for lost treasure.
Playing MASH to "predict" our future loves.  Scaring ourselves silly with Ouija boards. Playing Truth or Dare during sleepovers.
Slap bracelets. Side ponytails.  Skorts.
Going to the town carnival, always hoping that special someone would take me behind the cotton candy stand to make out.
Drinking blackberry brandy with my grandmother.  My first (and close to last) cigarette.  My first slow dance.

I remember having an Atari. My Jedi Light Saber was a long green plastic tube that whistled as you swung it. The sword was hollow and had a four hole cut design at the top. I remember my GI Joe figures. Our TV, Microwave, and Telephone all had turning nobs. Our first VCR had a remote that connected itself with a wire. I remember having Transformers, Votron figures, and Gobots. Thunder Cats, Thunder Cats, Thunder Cats HOOOOOOOO! I remember being in the Theater for Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, Gremlins, and Goonies.

That's about does it.

I remember having watermelon-seed-spitting-contests in the backyard,
having summer bbq's and watching hot air ballons go by and they were so close they would ask us what was for dinner,
deciding to copy dumbo and throw the cat off the top floor and try catch him in a blanket on the bottom floor (we missed...),
sneeking into the pool late on a hot summer night,
watching heat lighting and not knowing what is was or why it wasnt making a sound,
holding hockey sticks the opposite way and pretending they were lightsybers
beeny babies!!

getting a huge scar on my knee because I used to hold onto the backs of cars on my roller blades... ha wow, how times have changed...
