Valsedelalune -> Loss, Value and Importance of Virtue (1/12/2008 10:56:19 AM)

I wonder if any woman would pay for the virginity of a man, I read recently the virginity of a woman is a very valuable commodity. I believe it fetched some several thousand dollars. Though I can only imagine that men alone would be interested in virginal males, and I doubt they would be so valued. Oh, to be a woman I muse.

The thought of this popped into my head during Pride and Prejudice, rewatching an adaptation of it by the BBC. Any thoughts on the topic would be appreciated.

"Unhappy as the event must be ... we may draw from it this useful lesson: that loss of virtue in a female is irretrievable; that one false step involves her in endless ruin; that her reputation is no less brittle than it is beautiful; and that she cannot be too much guarded in her behaviour towards the undeserving of the other sex." - Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

Virtue is, fortunately, a condition easily cured.

i frown on any society values that equate virginity with value or virtue

My first thought was that there is no such thing as an "anal hymen"---How can you prove he's a virgin???

It can be difficult to prove of a woman also, especially in regards to their rear.

So perhaps it is because a man cannot be trusted that his body is a less valued on the open market, or perhaps because women are not to aggressive in the pursuit of their wants as men.

I'm curious to see what people make of this.

hmmm   my first love and I where both virgins. I found it great. My last love, my biggest love ever, and I not, but it felt better then everything.
Virginity is special..but not needed when you love some one extremely.

SubmissiveAK -> RE: Loss, Value and Importance of Virtue (1/12/2008 11:13:42 AM)

I guess virginity might be a value on the slave market (both the bad and good ones) but I dont really see where you got the monetary value for that. I know in some societies, Middle East and African mostly a non-virgin woman is deemed almost worthless when it comes to marriage, dowry and the like. I think in some communities you can nullify a marriage if she doesn't bleed on the wedding day. Probably why being raped is blamed on the woman in such societies; she just robbed her family of a dowry as well as the family honor.

I assume there are some Masters and Mistresses who would value a virgin submissive if they wanted to train them as thier sexual slave. I imagine there's some thrill in "perverting" a virgin for some --_^

Also, a lot comes into question of what does it mean to be a virgin? If they've had oral sex, or anal, but not intercourse, are they virgins? Maybe they are virgins in the fact that they've never been with a certain sex. Maybe they are a virgin when it comes to BDSM?

Its all in how you see it ;)

~submissiveAK~

NOTE: I do not pretend to understand or be an expert in such societies, I only know what I read.

To devout Mormons they value and preach and drum in virginity to males just as they do the girls. It is important to know that neither of the couple have a sexual past before they get married.

Tygra -> RE: Loss, Value and Importance of Virtue (1/12/2008 11:23:30 AM)

In today's Modern Society, what value would Virginity have?
Would one be considered an oddity?

Would men be pleased to own a virgin sub?

topcat -> RE: Loss, Value and Importance of Virtue (1/12/2008 11:33:32 AM)

I consider virginity to be no more a virtue than malnutrition, and 'innocence' to be as valuable as ignorance.

Can you put that into some kind of context?  Cuz you've pretty much lost me from the get-go.

The value of something is never more than the price someone is willing to pay.  I can say my experienced ass is worth six digits (to the left of the decimal point - LOL), but if no one is willing to pay it, is it really worth that much?

(who wishes she knew virginity was supposed to be a paying gig... would have remembered to actually collect)

Justme696 -> RE: Loss, Value and Importance of Virtue (1/12/2008 11:40:40 AM)

a virgin with experience would be bloody expensive  lol

LadyHathor -> RE: Loss, Value and Importance of Virtue (1/12/2008 11:40:48 AM)

Virgnity of the body?

Virginity of the heart?

Virginity of the soul?

Can you clarify?

Tygra -> RE: Loss, Value and Importance of Virtue (1/12/2008 11:44:45 AM)

in other words you are saying virginity has no value, experience is top rated..?

Here is some kind of evidence, http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/bristol/3429769.stm

Value is of course subjective, but this will show i'm not pulling things out of my behind. A quick search on google and you'll likely find other similar stories.

Virginity in any of its guises, the opening post was just to get the ball rolling.

Justme696 -> RE: Loss, Value and Importance of Virtue (1/12/2008 11:55:46 AM)

Virginity can be very nice of course...when you would meet your big love emmediately. It is nice to discover eachother as first ever partners. That is great and special.
But sadly you find your best partner afther several "trails" ...and then it can still be better even with out virginity

Tygra -> RE: Loss, Value and Importance of Virtue (1/12/2008 11:57:58 AM)

:(

CalifChick -> RE: Loss, Value and Importance of Virtue (1/12/2008 11:59:12 AM)

I wasn't looking for similar stories... you said you read it, and I wanted to know in what context. Until the product can be sold by anyone who has the product for the price, then I would consider it an anomaly and not a valid indicator of the real value.

In the example you gave, I find it hard to separate the selling of her virginity with the selling of herself for sex.  Not to start a fat girl/thin girl/ugly girl/beauty-in-the-eye-of-the-beholder thing, but if she resembled Jo-Jo the Dog Faced Boy, do you think the price would be the same??  So therefore, is it really the value of virginity, or the value of her for an act of sex??

Cali

i just have to say that i can't imagine many more awkward, embarassing and even painful scenarios as two virgins trying sex for the first time together

i can just see it:

him: What do you like?

her: I don't know, what do you like?

him: I wonder what's on tv.

her: Go for it, do you want something from the mini-bar?

Seriously, especially for the woman; i believe that she'd be far better off experiencing her first time with a gentle and caring, experienced man than with a anxious, clumsy and fumbling guy who's as likely to go in dry as wait for warm up.

I couldn't agree more... rather have someone who knows what He's doing
