The US is selling a $20 billion arms package to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and the UAE that includes precision-guided bomb technology.

Congress is not expected to block the deal.

The goal of the deal is to give US allies in the region a technological edge to defend against Iran.

The goal is to give our economic puppet-masters whatever weapons they want.

The House of Bush and the House of Saud, forever together!

Wait... I thought that Israelis were Bush's puppetmasters... not the Arabs. Oh wait, that was a different thread.

Never mind. My bad!

yeh well you see thats what happens when the us sells junk investments to an ally and that same ally watches their investmensts go up in smoke because the value of the dollar is cut in half.  Then when that ally starts talking about changing from duds to wmds, (euros), the us is only to happy to bend over and take it like a well paid whore.

Like many other subjects I covered that in another thread :)

Nope none of this is a conspiracy. Technically.  Not even 911.  Pretty tough to have a conspiracy when its all shoved right in your faces.

I think it is more to do with balance of power. The Russians have been selling the Iranians weapons like crazy. The US is trying to 1-up them.

Yep so here is the sovereign state of cyberdude and he looks around and realizes that like chavez a big bully is forcing him to sell all his candy in dollas, and when he also brings out the wmds, (euros), the maker of the dolla parks warships in his back yard and says naughty naughty what will he do?  He would most likely run to the russians for war goods to fight off the big bully.  So its pretty easy to just sort of skip right on past the root causes and look at what it is in the moment.  tit for tat that the us created.

I wasnt aware that the saudis had a significant problem with iran?

Guns are loaded, hair triggers, itchy fingers. who is gonna flinch first?  I bet Iran does, any kermit rooseveldts running around anywhere?  LOL

Hell we believed them the last couple times and they lied, but this time is going to be different.  isnt it?  :)

Bets we are in iran before the election.  It would be nice timing for another attack on us soil too but to many people are on alert and it might backfire.

The Saudi's are the only puppeteers here;

Who's pockets do you think will be lined most with that $20 billion?

Lockheed Martin
Haliburton
Honeywell
Boeing
Northrop
BAE

These are the folks who profit from war.

Yeah, only our enemies and their puppets / allies should be allowed to make or purchase advanced weapons systems.

This is not a good deal for Us.  The Saudis are not are friends or allies nor are the other counties involved.  In the past our arms shippment have found their way to various terrorist groups.  Remember there are some 100,000 weapons still missing in Iraq and alot of the money sent there to buy US made weapons has disappeared.

But you see that does not make any sense.  The only people imperializing is US!  Iran is not trying ot extend it borders that I am aware of.  The only thing I know of with Iran is that big bully with a hardon for oil perched and waiting to strike.  I havent forgotten the gulf of tonkin affair and history repeats itself cuz that old shit works so well LOL

Nos I woudl agree that the saudis are more or less strictly business partners.

I think it's important to remember that it's a 20 billion dollar sale, not a 20 billion dollar donation.

With all the talk about how we need money lately, it seems military technology is one thing we still have a pretty hefty monopoly on.  To me, it seems moral justification is often an afterthought (i.e., checking Iran in check).

The Saudis own us.
I hope many of these weapons don't disappear and end
up being used against the U.S.

With any luck, we'll be selling them neutron warheads. That would be the best for the area, and for us. That way, when they are inevitably used, they just wipe out the people, and the US can just move in and take the wealth of the area for ourselves. We might end up with a few clicks more on the geiger counter as we fill up our tanks, but it won't last long.

I wonder if it ever occurs to *our government* to consult with the American People before going off half cocked and doing things like this?

Oh popeye!
Since WHEN has the government asked or cared what the American people think?

Especially, in the last 8 years?

Bush has so lost the plot on foreign affairs, if he ever had the plot in the first place and with the US's weakened economic power, the US has no option but to bendover and take it like a man.

The irony is, the US ME policy got fucked up long ago by supporting oppressive dictatorships. Remember Iran and its Shah? Saudi Arabia doesn't need defending from an outside enemy but an internal one but hey, the US needs the trade nowadays.
