Trust is hard earned, and once lost, can be very difficult to regain. As others have stated, you really need to sit down all three of you, and get everything out in the open. It would be bad enough to lose your Master without losing your partner as well. Perhaps this relationship with your Master can be saved, perhaps not, but witholding information from your partner can only damage the trust he has in you.
