that it is against God to do any BDSM. Does anyone know why? Is it because of the sexual pleasure that they object to or is it something else? Thanks

Religious reasons against sexual pleasure in general and BDSM are varied. If you are truly interested, I would suggest you find members of these religions that you are refering to and ask them or their clergy about it.

CuriousLord -> RE: Some religions believe (1/15/2008 11:59:58 PM)

Religious people believe what they do, normally because they're told so or because they're more comfy that way.

It's not worth worrying about.

Justme696 -> RE: Some religions believe (1/16/2008 3:04:47 AM)

I am not religious in the sense of "church" or 1 god. Therefor , no offense please, I don't care that this is wrong in gods eyes. For me it doesn't matter if just a normal person says to me BDSM is wrong or that God says it.

Besides that, there is no where mentioned in the bible that one can't have pleasure with sex, not?
(closest i can think of is Sodom and Gomorra as places of lust)

Dnomyar -> RE: Some religions believe (1/16/2008 4:36:07 AM)

Justme dont apoligise for not being religous. Most people dont even know how their religion got started or the changes that happend in it. One example Adam and Eve. Eve wasnt Adams first wife. The church change theBible to fit their needs.

Adam and Eve were married? i didn't know that marriage was invented that early. Learn something every day.

One question though (because i am not religious either) If Eve was not his first wife how did he get divorced? Was divorce already invented too?

His first wife was Lilith or so the story goes. Its questions like these that make some of the religious types nervous, hence why I don't care what they think of my lifestyle. Maybe they think BDSM is wrong because you may have sex in another way other than the sanctioned missionary position...[8D]

I am not sure I agree with the notion that Adam n Eve were married in a technical sense!
Lilith is identified to be Adams first woman.  But basically wouldn't 'submit'.

Dari -> RE: Some religions believe (1/16/2008 4:59:36 AM)

I don't know where the Lilith thing came from, though somehow I don't care so much.  The way I always figure it - if you believe that God created everything (which many religious types do), and you include us in that "everything," then it seems silly to be upset about taking advantage of all the ways we're created to find pleasure, doesn't it?

I think more religions' stance on BDSM is based on ignorance and the viewpoint that to be into it, you have to be into it with multiple partners, or at the exclusion of a "normal" relationship (not talking vanilla, just one of understanding and mutual respect, etc.), or all sorts of other absurdities.

takenbyjohnr07 -> RE: Some religions believe (1/16/2008 5:02:56 AM)

WOW! This is the first time i've ever heard that. So if they could be married in a technical sense why do the resr of us have to have a license? Which in my opinon is a good thing because it protects us.

Ok, here is my next question. If he had a first wife who wouldn't submit, wouldn't that have been considered a sin? If it is, then why was Eve blammed for bringing sin into the world. Pleae forgive me if i misunderstod that part. Thanks

takenbyjohnr07 -> RE: Some religions believe (1/16/2008 5:07:49 AM)

i agree.

sambamanslilgirl -> RE: Some religions believe (1/16/2008 5:10:08 AM)

not to stir up a religious debate however we (we meaning Black Baptists and other affliliates) believe Adam and Eve were in a sense "married" because God created her by using one of Adam's ribs. edited to add - Baptists do not acknowledge nor teach the existence of this "Lilith".

there are many reasons why Baptists would view BDSM and other nonsexual/sexual acts as sin due to the teachings in the New Testament.  the Old Testament (also known as the Mosiac laws) were written for the Hebrews after the 10 Commandments were delivered from Mt Sinai and before the coming of Christ. After Christ was born and taught the chosen 12 to "go out into the world and preach His Gospel" - that's how the New Testament came to be since God's love and teachings were now being reached to every Gentile (non-Jewish/Hebrew) in many languages.

i raised both Catholic and Baptist for most of my life and yes, they do see sex with others as sin to dancing (unless it's spiritual expression) and listening to non-secular music (hiphop/rap rock, etc), doing drugs, etc as a sin. and if you sinned, you;re told to confess them to God to have a clean heart and not stray again. sex before and outside the marriage and/or having a baby out of wedlock are the biggies many Baptists browbeat constantly - no minister/preacher in his right mind would dare not to advocate abstenice to teens and adults.  there are also special rules about getting married about a divorce too. little UMs as young as my 5yr old are taught "Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Light..."

i hope that gives you some insight.

Dari -> RE: Some religions believe (1/16/2008 5:16:35 AM)

Oh.  And as far as Adam and Eve being married goes (I read the thread and I'm still not sure why this is included) - if you're believing the Biblical account, then God performed the marriage himself - bringing the woman to him and speaking a few words to bind them together.  It's all there in Genesis.

takenbyjohnr07 -> RE: Some religions believe (1/16/2008 5:18:22 AM)

Oh yes definitely! Thanks. May i ask you something? If eve came from Adam's rib, where did Lilith come from. This is so very interesting to me, because this is the forst time i have heard of her. And i don't want a debate either. Just a lot of friendly exchanges.

RCdc -> RE: Some religions believe (1/16/2008 5:18:43 AM)

There are many interpretations so I am just going with the major one hey.
Lilith was made for adam, but eve was made from him.  (edit to add that Lilith is said to have come from fire - coz I just saw you ask) - Its suggested that the other tribes attributed in the bible may be decendants of lilith.  However her refusel to submit caused God to decide that 100 of her children would die every day.  Some say she is human, some say she became a demon.  There are even suggestions that she came back and had an affair with Adam.

God  did not only blame eve for bringing sin, only some of the early church leaders did that.

Dari -> RE: Some religions believe (1/16/2008 5:20:12 AM)

In truth, if you read the account, Eve ate first, but the punishment for disobedience didn't occur until after Adam ate too.  Hard to blame one or the other at that point, isn't it?

Thank you, I don't want to hurt people with my thoughts.

wasn't Lilith the first wife on earth to become the first vampire

RCdc -> RE: Some religions believe (1/16/2008 5:25:26 AM)

Agreed.
Like I said, I have seen no evidence that god blamed either, church elders did that a lot further down the line.

Well with just 2 people on the planet, noone could have married them :P
And lilith was to pissed to do it.

bipolarber -> RE: Some religions believe (1/16/2008 5:27:05 AM)

Yes, it's true. The people who believe in the fairy tales think that sex is bad, and that God hates pleasure. (This, despite the fact he supposedly created the clitoris, which has no other function BUT to give pleasure. Not to mention he was also supposedly the being that gave us sex in the first place!)  Most man made religions have a conception of God that is little more advanced than a stubborn, angry 4 year old. Their God is far to small and petty to be in charge of the universe that I see. (But then I'm an anstronomer, so I have a better conception of the true scale of things than most people.)

Some basic questions to ask yourself:

1. Does your religion portray God as specifically male or female? (If it does, then someone is grabbing the power for themselves.)

2. Does your religion get involved in polititcs?

3. Has your religion ever tried to tell you that your shouldn't masturbate?

4. Is it centered around some charismatic leader, who's word is supposedly equal to God's? (This includes the Pope, Jim Jones, Charles Manson, L. Ron Hubbard, or John Norman or other like them.)

5. Does your religion demand that you give up part of your pay or worldly possessions, in order to be accepted, and thus be "okay" in God's eyes?

If you've answered "yes" to any of these, you might want to dump it. The religion you are following is more interested in power over you than it is in teaching any kind of universal truth.
