If you want to have a real bitch about prejudices against disabled folks then visit Sunny Queensland where shop keepers breach the law daily by keeping their isles too narrow and blocking wheelchair access. Their explanation is that wheelies don’t spend money and chase customers away. I have 8 cases of discrimination going at this time. Yep there are times when I need to use a chair for ease of getting about in the shopping centres. Legs give out after 100 yards. (Well-left knee does). I had, originally, worries about acceptability in the lifestyle being disabled, until those people I do mix with showed me that they simply take no notice of my disabilities.. Disabled? Hell yes, I’m disabled With osteoarthritis in my left knee (Too many gunshot hits in my knee area and Kevlar stops only so much) I may have disabilities but I’m NOT crippled! I will not allow any disabilities to alter my general lifestyle or who I am. Jees I can’t chase the bad guys any more but I can and do live a full life. I simply had to learn new skills and make a few minor modifications in how I do things. I grew up with a father who was seriously disables with a twisted spine from childhood polio. Theoretically he was supposed to have a brace on his legs or use walking sticks.. Funny he never used sticks or any aids and we walked miles duck and quail hunting, as well as fishing. He also on a weekly basis played 36 holes of golf. Many people hade disabilities but are crippled in their own minds.. there is a huge difference. Main difference between some of us D.I.S.A.B.L.E.D. folk and the rest of you is that many of us have ldearned to deal with high levels of pain. Bloody hell immagine an impacted wisdom tooth at its worst .. got that in memory? That is what my left knee is like 24/7. Morphine sulphate is only good for helping me sleep solidly every 3rd night..... Hey I'm still alive, and having a great time..
