I like the term. But then i also enjoy listening to people's glory dayz stories and asking questions about how it was for them.
I *heart* hearing "i have 20 years in the lifestyle" for sooo many reasons. It might mean i crossed paths with them, it might mean that they have a funny story to tell, it might mean that they really know a lot about X or Y, it might mean that they just want to skip the credentials crap and go straight to negotiations, it might mean they are full of it, or it might mean that are going to talk my ear off about people i have never heard of doing things I don't want to know about.

And I ask, like some sort of OCD reaction, "what parts of the lifestyle?" which, i think, is my downfall (see losing an ear).

But all and all, I like the term. Time dropping with the definitions laid out so neatly in an earlier post.

The best part of Time Dropping is that most people tend to drop their past fuck ups and mistakes like they never happened at all.

DOOOD! I knew i was doing something wrong there. So the point is to only tell the bits that went really well? Not the bits where you fell on your face, accidentally broke someone else's flog mid-scene and hit their Dom with the tails (who was standing BEHIND me), or all those great moments when i realized that i am just a goofy, spaz and hopeless with knots.

This one time,

                       At Band Camp...

MarsBonfire -> RE: Name Dropping and a New Term "Time Dropping" (3/5/2009 12:41:28 PM)

dreamer,

Yeah, and then that character went on to describe her experimental sexual adventures at that Band Camp, and the people she was talking with learned a little something about being open to new expereinces... (as I recall) It's hard to remember... whenever that actress hits the screen (the same young woman who played Willow on Buffy) I tend to tune out and just focus on her sexy, sexy ways...

“A person's opinion should stand on its own and not need the shoulders of people or in this case, the past”
Then why EVER quote anyone?
There is a history to everything, including the Life.  There is a history of traditions for a reason.
The obverse is those whom mistakenly believe they have discovered everything anew.

Enjoy your wonder-filled day

So, "time dropping"...yeah or nay?

Why not? Are my experiences any less valid just because you or someone else were not there to 'verify' it? I think not.

How do people do it? How does one determine what threads deserve resurrection?  Is it a search?

Did Esstee search for Time drop?

I got to tell you..This is a time fuck.  I just got fucked out of seven minutes of my life I shall never retrieve.

Well, Domi, look at it like this.  You could just cut seven minutes out of your next fuck.  Then the time thing will even out.  LOL.

You know the drill.  New to the forums, used the "search" function, etc, etc.

What always give Me a chuckle is, when the resurrected thread starts getting new comments to argue something someone said a year ago.

Good to see you back around.

Seems a reasonable amalgamation.

There is no problem with me when folks are citing history. Nothing wrong with experience, if someone really knows something they do, no big deal to mention it. I cant stand Nazi thinking where you cant mention whatever for whatever reason. If someone is insecure it will likely show through and that is no big deal either, none of us are ALL that, we can all use some work. It is when folks are trying to say things to cover up theri own feelings of inadequacy that it can come across kind of sad and transparent.

Who cares if someone resurrects a thread either. Jesus for a bunch of so called kinky folks yall get your knickers all bundled up so much of the time. Sad and funny.

YourhandMyAss -> RE: Name Dropping and a New Term "Time Dropping" (3/5/2009 7:59:32 PM)

Moderators, for what ever reason, frequently care, and you don't want to end up on the wrong side of a mod. That never ends well.

And who said kinky people don't get their undies in a bunch quite frequently, it's not like being kinky makes you immune to such things.

A new poster started a thread on whether he could be taken seriously as a new Dom, and whether claims of experience had any value.  I posted a link to this thread, because I remembered the OP, and liked it.  Clearly, someone decided to comment on this thread, instead of the new one... and we're off to the races again!

cloudboy -> RE: Name Dropping and a New Term "Time Dropping" (3/6/2009 9:08:41 AM)

That's not time dropping, that's just getting old.
