Status: offline 		When I first started looking on here, I considered myself only sexually submissive.  I realized though that sexuality extends beyond the bedroom.  Initially I meant things like just the psychological foreplay of flirtation and interaction outside the bedroom.  But the more I thought about it (with encouragement from someone special), the more I realized that sexuality does, or can, bleed into pretty much everything.  I don't think it is necessarily a hard and fast distinction between BDSM and vanilla, because there are BDSM relationships that aren't sexual and only service and discipline based, and vanilla people and relationships that bring a bit of sexuality into just about everything they do, but thinking of everything, like service and reverence and whatnot with a bit of a sexual context did help me realize a deeper level of submissiveness for me that is fulfilling.

Status: offline 		I wouldn't say that it's "the" difference between vanilla and BDSM, but I do agree that in a BDSM relationship, there is what you're calling a touch of sexuality in everything you do, even if it's not overtly sexual.

No. I've met very sexual vanilla people. They just aren't interested BDSM as a lifestyle.

I am the way I am even before acknowledging that I am dominant.  It could be deemed "sexual" because most of the things I do, I do because they turn me on. 
Hearing a man whimper, moan, beg, cry....how could it not be sexual?

The notion of a 'BDSM lifestyle' has always eluded me, personally, as I'm not a member of any kind of club (though I'm well into members, and clubs... huh...), but as I am sexually bent in a D/s kind of way (I have been all my life, but it gets worse with age), I concur enthusiastically with the Dom you spoke to. Everything in my life is flavoured by sexuality. I am obsessed with twisted sex; a trip to a public library is sexual. Getting ouf of a car is sexy. Chopping carrotts turns me on. I get off from watching a man wearing a shirt with double-cuffs and cufflinks. I find a sexually twisted connotation in nearly everything - and that's without even trying.

Status: offline 		No I dont agree ... no more than there is a touch of sexuality in everything some people do that are vanilla .. it depends on the individual.  As many have said .. its hard to find any touch of sexuality in doing laundry or having it done for me, or in cleaning toilets or having them cleaned for me, or in having a meal cooked for me or in cooking.
Can one feel sensual doing these things? yes .. but not every time .. at least not in my opinion.

Personally, I think that speaks volumes of how messed up we are still, fundamentally sexually, than the fact that it has nothing to do with it.
