if you found that sub or dom you been looking for a long time, but that sub or dom doesnt like your cat or dog. Would you get rid of your pet for your bdsm lifestyle partner?

hmmmm...

Are we talking like we found the one???

My partner had no issue with my pet, but in order to be together I had to give her up because we relocated to a rental & most landlords do not want large dogs. It was hard but the happiness of the human members of my family came first. I made sure my pet is well taken care of, she actually stayed with my former roommate & she is doing well.

Some people are pet people & some people are not. You gave no info as to what this person did not like about the pet or reasons.

What if you meet someone you fall head over heels for & they have allergies... would you get rid of the pet for that reason. People are often faced with this when they have children. Often they have pets for years & a new child develops an allergy... do we get rid of the child?

A pet is not a lifetime partner. What is more important to you is the real question. I know some may want to read more into this than is really necessary.

The partner I would be "looking for for a long time" would probably be accepting of anything that large in my life, like a family pet that was considered more than an accessory. It all depends on your relationship with your animals. Some people treat them like commodities and it's just as easy for them to dump them if a potential mate finds them disagreeable. Sadly, sometimes the relationship ends and the pet is still gone.

"Doesn't like" is sort of the key here. Is the person seriously allergic? If so, the animal issue should have been addressed right up front if the person was ever going to be inside the house.

Also, perhaps it's an important key about the person that should be considered. Do they have so little empathy that they don't consider how important this animals is to the owner?

Well.. like i just told Master. Before Master (dated B.M. ) i'd of said, i'd get rid of the man before i got rid of the pet. A.M. (after Master) i would probably try and find away to make it work (as we do with the dog) but the pets would go.

Personally speaking, I wouldn't be able to give up my boys for just a Dom (I know that sounds horrible but keep reading and wont sound so bad lol). Other arrangements would have to be made as far as playing and such if they were allergic or afraid of my boys.
Now.. THE ONE means different things to different people. If the ONE is more than just a Dom, like say... Someone that I do not share with anyone else, someone that I not only love but am in love with and plan to spend my life with that would be slightly different. In that case, I would do so if the Dom was seriously allergic.
Fortunately I dont see myself ever getting in this situation since anyone I talk to is told about my dogs up front. ONe of the first things I ask them is "Are you okay with large hairy dogs?"

Of course I wouldn't give up the dog. But then, we're poly.

the first time Master visited my apt, my skittish Domme cat was practically glued to His hip, and my big hairy Domcat was belly up getting tummy rubs within 1/2 hour. (i was cooking, i think). it is part of what made Him THE ONE.

if He were allergic, though, i might have to find another home for the beasts, but ohhhhhh, it would be so very very very hard.

Your pets are your children. Our's just broke a windown in the living room last night.
Anyway, if this person was the right person for you. They should also accept your family. If not, then are they truly the person for you?
I would'nt start a relationship with a person who did not accept me for me, including my family. Although that is just me.

Key words: "does not like"

My response? Tough shit. My pets are family. Just as if I had kids, we are a package deal. I took them on with a commitment to provide them a loving home and good care for their entire lives...not "until I met someone I liked better".

I've kinda toned down answering the posts..just looking unless something jumps out and bites me...well ouch...I have 3 cats...had them since they were 2 days old( mom was killed by a..believe it or not.. a drunk driver)...after almost losing 2 of them several times during that first week... and although I've had them for 4 years now...they are my babies...either live with them or pack your bags... now I do have a seperate place if you visit and have allergies...they have their own living space...but hey..it's only a hairball for crying out loud...

I don't think I could give up my two little Boston Terriers, may sound bad, but they have been through a great deal with me, and they are always there to help me through the bad time. Thankfully I don't have to deal with that problem. Master has 4 big dogs of his own and when I go I take my little ones. Everyone gets along just great, its a lot of dogs in the house at one time, but it works out.

My pets are family, they are with me until either they or I bite the dust. Besides, the ONE would be accepting and would deal with it. Now major allergies aside, my pets go nowhere. My cats are mine. Don't like them, go to the hot place.

I would not partner with someone, however casually, who wasn't ok with my animals.
