I was watching the Giants beat the Packers in the third coldest game in NFL history last night while CBS was doing yet another hatchet job on human beings
destroying Antartica's glaciers with our horrid industral carbon emmissions.

Hmmmm...

Seems we may have noting to do with it after all.

I wonder how the Algorians plan on stopping these hordes ruthless people hating, penguin killing volcanoes???

Of course, the volcanoes have been a constant for centuries, so their limited contribution to the glacial melting can be discounted.

This would be a LOT easier if we had invested in the Basic research needed to really understand what's going on.

See.... that's the problem fargle...

They have not been constant in Antartica, the haven't acted this way in almost 2500 years. No doubt that some type of vulcan activity was cause for the greening of Gleenland during the time Viking colonies thrived there for a few hundred years.

Nothing on earth is constant.

Fat Dom, it is pretty well established that it is ocean currents that have the greatest effect Glaciers near the ocean. The article you cited puts most of the blame on them. Some people think the ocean currents are affected by the atmosphere, and undoubtedly they are to some degree, its all interconnected.

Also the article says the volcano may be making the glacier move faster. Whether it thins or not depends on how much snow gets put in every year, not just how fast it ejects ice.

Volcanos do not go off at a regular rate. They are like meteors and a wild card in modeling.
