-here goes- enjoy your youth.  be in no hurry in life.

it sure isnt fun when the grey kicks in- and one HAS to color the hair to look normal.  yet- [it] is still better then loosing hair, recieding hairline.

im not a fan of over-processing of ones hair, skin.

you look sexy in the pic i see here.    :-)  maybe red would break the winter blahs....

red might have broken the winter blahs...i stopped by my salon today and my hairdresser said she wouldnt' do red for me becuase it wouldn't go with my skin tone...she might be right, but i'll still think about it.

Well I love red hair, but I haven't seen you personally, and 'only my hairdresser knows for sure!'.
She might be right, and you might not like it, then where will you be? temp dying, wig just some ideas, hair paint that washes out?

There are warm reds, and cool reds, and a bazillion different shades. Usually there is one that works for just about everybody. If you're still jonesing to be a redhead, definitely get a second opinion.

do you tend to have that red undertone to your skin?  Problem with red for a lot of people is that if you have a tendency to be red it will make you look more red.  Similar problem if you have a cool complexion... red is naturally a warm tone.  Adding red to a cool tone will leave you somewhere in the neutral to warm range.  Warm tones don't flatter people with cool complexions.

Sadly, red is the color that fades the fastest... and is one of the harder colors to get right.

That would definetly be why she told you not to go red.  Pink undertones and strawberry blonde or red hair would bring that out and make you look extremely red.  You could certainly do it.... but it would most likely be pretty unflattering.

So, I'm a wet blanket.

I love redhair, but I don't like bottlejob reds at all.

christine, your hair is gorgeous just as it is.  Reminds me of a girl I dated in high school.  DAMN she was hot!

Now of course I know nothing about coloring hair… The pictures of red heads or red high lights I see here on CM are very becoming….BUT

I think red is one of those colors that is only becoming on some people. The vast majority of people I see on the street with red high lights look cheap and fake…especially after a period of time when the colors fade or grow out.

I think there are sites on the web where you can submit a picture and try out different hair colors… If not maybe a friend is Photoshop capable and can add the coloring for your preview before you take the big step.

The majority of redheads are colored.  Finding a true redhead is like finding a needle in the hay stack.  Just as many who are blonde are colored blonde especially in places like california due to hollywood influences.

Just have to find someone of Scottish or Irish ancestry...    usually skin tone alone is a dead giveaway of true red versus colored red.  Well that or their temperment.

Have never been blonde, don't have the coloring for it. But in college I went from a natural auburn to a fawn red. Trucks stopped while the drivers leaned out the window to stare. Guys came running up from a block away to ask me if they could buy me coffee. It was amazing but rather unnerving.
