They come in different shapes and sized. I have found that the " gingerbread" ones are fun. Since it's for suspencions though- you want to have as many holes in it as possible so it's more flexible to play with. Paddig is not necessary, as far as I see it.It would make it heavier and harder to handdle. My ideal board would be like swiss cheese - holes everywhere and, just so it's comfortable, the edges should be nicely sanded and the whole board/edges can be dressed in leather. The one I have is made to my size and has a posture collar attached to it.
