owner I stand by my prediction.  I think the Republicans will coalese after our primary, and get our base.  I see huge amounts of fighting on the Left/Demside.  And doubt that your side can hold it together.

It has been traditional for the party that holds the presidency to lose seats in non presidential election years.  It is almost an iron clad rule.  02 was a major exception.  In 06 the Dems barely beat the odds on that.  So citing the 06 elections as a surge, sounds a political speech, not a reality based anaylsis to me.

I do think that huge numbers of left leaning folks are voting in the primaries, but they have to coaless for the general election.  Are the Kucinich people going to vote for hillary?  I kind of doubt it.

We can use this forum as an analogy.  On the question of support Bush or not.  Not is a huge majoirty.  But it includes, you Sinergy, Real, Termn8, Farg, Churro, Thompson X, ect.  a range of radical beliefs.  You are not all going to vote for the same candidate.

08 is not a vote of no confidence.  08 is not a national election.  Dems keep forgeting this, confusing what they wish with what is. Which is the root of most Left leaning problems, but that is a digression.  It is a series of state elections for the purpose of selecting electors to elect a president.  And I think the Reps have a reasonable chance, which has improved recently, and that who ever wins will get a low %.  I think a split on both the right and left is possible.

But we shall of course see in Nov.

What keeps on surprising me is that Bush supporters call those that don't agree with them 'radicals'. I know it's nothing new: it's amusing to think that sometime soon, Bushites will be in the minority :-), whoever the Republican party designates as their presidential candidate.

That's all well and good, O59, and I've figured all along I would be working for the losing side in November, but lately it seems the Dems have been taking lessons in blowing good opportunities from the Palestinians.

Hey.  Weren't the Dems supposed to end the war in Iraq once they regained Congress in '06?  How's that working out?

Hey.  Weren't the Dems supposed to end the war in Iraq once they regained Congress in '06?

This shows you skipped American government ~101~.

They were elected on that issue.Bush is at fault for keeping the war going. The Democrat`s low rating,is a result of  their inability to stop the war.Doesn`t mean they haven`t tried.

I find it strange and creepy, that you`d use the prolonging of that stupid war and the needless deaths,as a dig on a message board.

Those are our boys you`re talking about.WTF?!?

I mean, who`s side are you on?

"How's that working out?"

Ok you`re right, the dems were unable to affect the war.
You`ve won on that point.

Feel better?

We are so fucked...

Anyone who is voting on the Iraq issue is a moron. The United States has built 14 (so far with more to come) PERMANENT military bases in Iraq and we also just recently built a multi-billion dollar embassy that would rival Saddam's palaces. The Iraqi defense minister released a statement a few weeks ago (that the mainstream media never reported on) that the government will not be able to support itself until at least 2018.

We are not leaving Iraq no matter who is elected. Any president that tries will be knocked off by the powers that be....just like JFK was when he screwed up the Bay of Pigs invasion, the Berlin Wall, and the Cuban Missile Crisis.

The voters want to keep falling for that scam of a campaign issue....then they are the morons. We are not leaving Iraq. The voters have no power over that issue. Look at our past wars. We STILL have combat troops in Germany, Japan, and Korea and those wars ended over 60 years ago! None of the Democrats or Republican candidates (except maybe Ron Paul) has any intention of pulling out troops out of any nation that they are in today.

The worst thing is... you are probably right. It's depressing that we believe we'll make a change in what is, after all, not much more than a pseudo-democracy  .

Here it is.  I live in South Carolina.  Rolls my eyes.

Our state is heavily African American.  The other part is Christian Conservative.
We have a lot of African American Christian Conservates in this state.
We knew Obama was going to win.  The stats showed that he had like 51 percent of the black vote.
Hillary had 25 percent.
John Edwards could not carry his own state.
Here is the way I see it turning.
It is probably going to be Obama with Hillary as Vice President.  Together, they will be practically unbeatable.
I have no problem either way with which one gets it.
Obama needs to quit attacking people and tell us what he plans ot do.  So far he hasn't said a thing.
There is not a republican I would vote for.
I am staying with my democratic roots.

Hope that explains how our state is.

Regards, MissSCD

Obama and Hillary will not be on the same ticket. This primary, mostly because of Bill, has destroyed that possibility. Obama and the Clintons are tearing each other apart.

So this primary on the Democrat side could end up going on for awhile. You think the Clintons are going to concede an election to Obama and become his running mate? What are you smoking?

The Democrats better find a way to get back together because those exit polls were ugly. 80% of blacks voted against Hillary in a state she was 20 points up just 2 months ago. Believe it or not, the Democrat primary has beed divided on racial lines.

While I'm for Obama, the racial bit causing him to win SC sickens me.

Damn people voting for/against him based on race, and people voting for/against Hillary based on gender.

White man whining.

You know, I haven't called you on this in too long.

In SC, 75% of black people voted for Obama yet only 25% of white people did.  Does that not strike you as probable racism?  I'm not sure if you realize how tastless your comments are often.  I may as well have been a black woman pointing out this disparity, and you may've well have said, "Nigger bitch whining."

I'm not sure what your problem is with men, or why your profile reflects it, or why you bash them in every thread you get the oppurtunity to, but it's truly disgusting.

Ok CL, once again you have confused me... how does her profile reflect a hatred towards men? Looking at it all I saw was one silly joke... And how exactly is she man bashing now? I mean, If I refer to someone as girl des that make me sexist too?

If you denounced opinions based on the girl's gender, then, yes.

If it were this one thing, I'd probably take it as a joke.  She just has a good history of trolling me, so I like to occasionally call her on it.

The thing about her profile was because, after hearing from her a lot, I don't believe it to be a joke.

Curious Lord:

How dare you refer to my state as racists.  We have a heavy population of African Americans here.  This does not make us racists.
You need to grow up.   Every time I read any post of yours,  it is nothing but a flame.  Why is it that you are the only one whose shit doesn't stink?

I'm going to disagree on who skipped civics, O59, or perhaps you just never made it to 201.  The Dems have had the power to do it for a year.  What they don't have is the intent.  It was all a LIE to get their power back.

I love men, actually. Especially when they're reasonably enlightened. I'm not someone who has ever lauded the values of prejudice, as you know all too well. I have a son, for heaven's sake!

'White man whining', because in the light of this country's racial history, I found your complaint regarding the voters in South Carolina rather pathetic. It's a political jab, not a sexist, nor racist, one.

As for my profile... are you seriously referring to my joke about Eve?!!!  If that is sexist in your eyes, you are even more lacking in humour than I thought.

Il  faut rire, quand on ne sait pas  .

Are you suggesting that Pelosi order all democrats to vote with her, under pain of death?

Is that how it works?lol

Again,in civics 101,we learned that even with a majority(a slim one, at that),if you peel off a few votes, you lose the majority.Do the math.

Bush and the republicans just have to peel off only a few democratic votes,to get their way,as they have for the last year.Coupled with Bush`s vetos of Democratic bills to start a pullout ,they will keep us there well after '08'/'09''.

What is it that you`re missing?

The Democrate haven`t as you said ," had the power to do it for a year".

The loudest whining going on is your explanation of why the Dems haven't stopped the war.  "but we only have the majority wah wah wah, we can't make our memebers vote together wah wah wah.  Pelosi can't order them to vote..."

Pelosi herself has the power to end it.  She could refuse to put a funding bill on the floor, and it never get voted on.  She of course knows she would cease to be the speaker 2 hours later, because that is not what the public wants done.
