I will tell you what it is like.

With 4 herniated disks, among T C and L, a bad shoulder and bi-carpal tunnel.

It can be an effort to navigate a store.

People stand in the way- so veer right- or left- triggar pain.

Or stop the cart- triggar pain. Lous speaker blaring in store- tirggar pain.

Cant read the label- in fine print and in several languages. The items with no price- and the sign says it is on sale but isnt.

The to reach- triggars pain.

To stoop triggars pain.

To reach for the club card triggars pain.

Get dirty looks for taking handicap space- triggars uneasiness.

Person writing down license plate cause they are too dumb to know the disabled plate is better then the blue placard- triggars mad.

Then squeezing in the tiny check out counter- triggars pain.

The person in back brushes cart up on me- JUMPS OUT OF MY SKIN PAIN!

I hope that answeres your question.

Unless it is a clealy visible disability, no, i do not think you can look at a few pictures and instantly know whether or not someone is able bodied.

My handicap is clearly visible (an amputation is not considered a disability by Social Security). my disability is not visible. Even people who know me forget that I'm legally blind (totally blind in my right eye). The diabetes may be inferred from knowing the other problems, and the neuropathy may be inferred from the leg brace. So far (knock wood) no other disability.

No.

Hard to casually look at someone and tell… but a close inspection… now if I could only get one… would show an awful lot of big ugly scars.

Maybe I’m wrong about that…I used to open doors for others now almost always someone will hurry to a door and open it for me….I feel soooo old sometimes.
