DiurnalVampire -> RE: sub/slave/property (1/31/2008 7:43:34 PM)

I will quote kitten, the one almost romantic thing he ever said to me.
"I am just an s. I dont really care if that s means slave or sub, as long as it is the s that follows your D when you talk about us."
Not all slaves are owned. Not all owned are slaves.
Not all owned consider themselves property. Not all unowned want to be property.
EVeryone you ask will have a different answer.

My boys are my property. They are treated well, loved, and cherished, but they are also owned and there is no mistaking that. What it means to me differes from anyone else.
And what it measn to the boys is only important if they and I agree.

Are all sub/slaves/property owned by their Dominants? i read that some think they are owned and somne say they are not no matter what title they use. So at what level would you consider yourself being owned if you would at all?

Thinking about the bolded part - here's where I think it gets into the "subbier than thou" territory.  Because I am a submissive who doesn't consider herself owned, and doesn't want to be, how does that make me somehow inferior to someone who proclaims to be owned property? [8|]

Zechriel -> RE: sub/slave/property (1/31/2008 8:06:04 PM)

I am not property, I do not consider myself as such. I thought I was a submissive b/c the word "slave" has such negative connotations for me, like the word "witch". So  I asked Master and he thought about it for a while and came back with- "You are a slave, You are not happy unless everyone else is happy and content first. You put others above yourself ALWAYS. A sub may be submissive for the moment or for a while but she does not feel the NEED to make everyone happy all the time, even if it is an impossibility. A slave always needs to serve others , even if it is just her family and friends, co-workers or strangers." So I am a slave, and since I DO do all that in everyday life, every waking moment, I am an angel thus making me Master's slave angel.

Master considered me owned right away, he knew he wanted me and wanted to train me for his lifestyle.  I on the other hand, did not feel the same way, it would come and go. Sometimes I felt owned, sometimes I did not. The turning point came when I realized that with Master I would be protected, happy, given a voice, and not judged for all those deep, dark, fantasies that I had. That with Master everything was OK and I could just BE and FEEL. That was like what? 2 weeks ago? ::laughs::

I still have doubts, I still get scared-okay i get scared ALOT! But somehow there is a peace and safety in the dark, a force stronger than myself and my fears to fall back on-and his name is Master.

Love,
Zechriel
-Master's slave angel

subnstudent -> RE: sub/slave/property (1/31/2008 8:19:53 PM)

The thing about being 'owned' is that it's different for everyone. Heck, part of the big vanilla relationships thing.. The guys say that their girls are *their* girlfriends, using a word that implies ownership, and vice versa. So yeah, I don't think there's any real standard.

swtnsparkling -> RE: sub/slave/property (1/31/2008 8:43:46 PM)

Taken asks:

Now why would you read that simple question and come away with - "subbier than thou"   and why ask this question- how does that make me somehow inferior to someone who proclaims to be owned property?

Come on now lets not steer this thread in that direction.
Nothing like that was said or asked

AquaticSub -> RE: sub/slave/property (1/31/2008 8:49:47 PM)

Probably the word level. Personally, when I see terms like "levels of submission" tossed around there is an underlying hint of "I'm at a higher level, look how great I am".

petpete -> RE: sub/slave/property (1/31/2008 8:56:41 PM)

For me the word "slave works wonders!! i love the term slave and to hear it of my Mistress's lips (when i have one again). But there is no way, and i repeat, read my lips!!!NO WAY i can and have that feeling unless i am absolutely certain that the one who will take charge of me is on all terms a balanced, trustworthy carrying and generally a person that i can feel i can rely on all grounds. And that i don't just restrict that to BDSM play but the person will have to prove themselves in everyday life. Oh!! Almost forgot!! The person who i will and can be a slave to has to have a full understanding of me as a person. Sounds very demanding for a sub?? Well i have to live in the real world too and i don't expect of no Dominant to help me through my life. So far i had to do the opposite and that is very disturbing from a submissives point of view. Cheerio

Yes, it is interesting how the phrasing of certain questions can lead to certain inferences, isn't it?

Maybe i am wrong, but when i first looked at the OP i saw the word level and cringed, thinking, "here we go again".... But then when i read and reread, What i took her to mean was not comparing those who don't identify as been owned with those who dont....but what she actually said...

What level do you consider yourself being owned if you would at all?

On a personal level, in one's (any reader's) existence, mind, heart or whatever...Do you personally consider yourself  to be owned?and if so to what  degree do you feel that?

i personally didn't hear the sublier than thou attitude i thought i would when i initially glanced and saw that word...i heard her to mean it from a very personal perspective.

just my perspective.

Well "Levels of submission "was never used. Unless it was typed in super CM invisable font I was unable to see.
Why is it a question cannot just be read and answered?

Oh look she used the word level in her question- that must mean she thinks she's better.

You know, too much thinking there is a underlying hint- assuming and disecting of words goes on which seems to lead certain threads down a path of distruction

Nope but level was, which can easily be taken for "levels of submission".

I dunno. Why can't a post attempting to answer your question be taken as just that instead of assuming that I must think the OP thinks she is better when I didn't outright say that?

You asked a question. I said "hey, IMO it was the word level" and then I gave my explaination as to why the word level could lead people to think that. Now, would you like my opinion on if the post itself has that feeling?
