well i'm a guy but i made the mistake of wearing my big stompy 18eye boots. once laced they are the most comfortable footwear i own feel like second skin.

I got a few sighs and looks when i had to sit on the floor for 10 minutes and unlace them. then afterwards i put them back on and did a quick lace skipping every three eyes.

it most definitly wasn't a positive reaction. it was more of a "what the hell was this guy thinking"
of course i wasn't.

now its the quick zip up military boots.

Please also have your computer out before you get to the line.

And when you get to the airplane...the books you want to read/snacks you want to eat/notes you want to write...out of your luggage before you hand your ticket to the girl (yes, it can be done...and no, I don't care how many small ones you have with you/old you are/etc.), wait till you get in your seat to call your Mom/GF/Boss/Associate/BFF....or whoever you deem so incredibly vital to call that you do so while struggling with your luggage, juggling it "just a second honey....I'm loading my stuff....yep...it's a full flight....gawd these things always move sooooo slooooooow....hi there...hey, can you hold this for me for a second please?"....

I'm completely confident whoever you want to talk to is extremely important...but no more important than my desire to get where I'm going...and you're holding me up.  We've got another 15 - 25 minutes before the flight attendant tells you to turn off your electronic devices...another 4 minutes won't ruin your day.

Whenever you're getting off the plane or on the plane....look behind you.  If that part of the line isn't moving, and the part of the line in front of you is....YOU'RE THE PROBLEM.

i was in the airport the other day, and noticed a Woman with some very sexy leather boots on. just up to her calf, and easy to take off using a zipper when going through security.

i was wondering if any W/woman have had the much more eye-catching thigh-high black leather boots and had to take them off to get through security, and how people reacted.

I believe all women should be required to go through secuity totally barefoot. Then again, I have a female foot fetish!

i used to wear very fetishy boots alot of the time when i traveled. Extra big platform, blk vinyl with laces and zippers on the sides....i'm sure i caused some ppl to stare..i know there were times when the man behind me would remark about how short i am when i would take them off and how deceiving it was cause they'd think i was about 6" tall lol..part of what made traveling interesting

This happened to me at an International airport recently.  I was running late and my flight was being called and I had to remove my thigh boots, didn't have time to 're-boot' after they were put through the scanning machine thingy and had to run barefoot to the gate to board .. I wasn't allowed in the plane carrying my boots and had to put them on again before I could board in the full view of  Security Soooooooooo ... always wear Nikes when travelling, a whole lot less hassle ...

Hear Hear Hear Dammit!!!!Get prepared as you stand in line for security.Get ready to kick off the shoes, seperate the crap. Obey the signs because you are not special enough to bring through that bottle of water you just opened. It drives me out of my fricken mind to be behind someone who stands there in line for 20 minutes then 'suddenly' realises that it is their turn and oh my how confusing to take off the shoes, open the laptop carrier etc. *does some deep breathing* It really does bug the hell out of me.

Ach!..slip on Birkenstocks!!..less muss less fuss...while my appearance is generic for the most part while travelling..I have never felt the need to impress any one in an airport...of course if travelling to see someone special..I have packed in my carry on ,all the necessary things to go from plain jane to MILF in 5 minutes or less..:0)...Tempting

same here--I travel a good bit, and always have 'slut wear' and personal items in my carry on....

When i was doing the airport shuffle a couple weeks ago, i was astonished to see how many women were wearing tall boots...

I know.  It gets worse if you go into a shoe store.  Just now, tall boots for women are very "in", so they're absolutely EVERYWHERE in every possible variation imaginable.

But if you're a man, and you want tall boots, you are SOL.  There are none, unless you go to a specialty equestrian-supply or motorcycle-gear place, where you will pay top dollar.  And even then, you'll have the choice of maybe two or three styles, tops.

There's a guy in Paraguay who does custom tall boots at a cost very comparable to what you'd pay off-the-shelf in North America.  He's on eBay.  Someday, when I have the money to spare...

I'd like to echo what folks say about not wearing hard to take off shoes/boots until after you've been through security. Please have some consideration for the folks behind you.

Thanks for nothing Richard Reid.

Totally with you here on this...i am a very impatient traveler and impatient around slow people in general (working on that but living in NYC kinda helped make me this way) and i used to travel alot and that was a total pet peeve.

if i was ever doped up enough to consent to flying and had to go thru a checkpoint they'd have loads of fun with me.  not only am i in the wheelchair, but the boots i wear for my condition have extremely thick soles as well as metal  and velcro fasteners and metal braces in them.  just slap my ass on the damn conveyor belt and run me thru, it's faster!  i don't worry, i wouldn't fly, i was married to an airplane mechanic, i know what kind of people they hire to work on those things!  forget it!

heh.  flew back from texas last spring with the imp, and i wore cowboy boots.  before we got in line, i had to have him help me with that...they fit SNUG.  so he was nearly tugging me off the chair, and about fell on his butt when the boot came loose!

very funny stuff.  *grins*

kitten, who's going to texas in the next month or so....

I'm waiting for the day that we all have to go through the lines butt naked.  ^_^

Picking the RIGHT line to be in will be more important than ever.   Forget which line is fastest, I'm looking for the line with all the hot babes in it.

On another humorous note, I used to work for an ordnance disposal company and some military ranges have a requirement that you wear kevlar anytime you are down range so I frequently traveled with a flak jacket and helmet.   I had also handled a lot of explosives while wearing that flak jacket.    I typically showed up at the airport at least 3 hours early and just waited for the explosives scanner to go off on my gear bag. hehehe

I am waiting for them to make it simple. Remember the X-ray machine for the subway in Arnold Schwartzeneggers ( write that on a page in kindergarten..sheesh) Total Recall? Zaaaaaappp! Ok you please over here, you go ahead M'am have a nice day.

Master travels on planes all too often. For him it is shoes easy to kick off, a laptop case that clamshells so they can easily search it, and his carryon, everything else including his tools, travel cargo, which so far has cost us in the past year, 12 TSA locks, 2 toolboxes and 3 suitcases. Sigh.

poenkitten (stocking up on TSA locks again)

I can't imagine a Woman foolish enough to travel in such impractical footwear.

A Lady commands the dignity to freely manuever Her legs. She must always arrive by private jet.  Pretty slave boys and girls will be at Her disposal to massage and pamper Her feet.  Her accommodations will be as regal as She.

O.P. your proposal is indeed wank fodder.  Pure drivel.   You must not indulge in such fantasy.

This surprises me...as i used to travel just about every week on business...and at the time i had 10 piercings...i don't recall ever setting off the metal detector (except when i forgot to take something out of my pocket)...of course, this was before 9-11, so maybe it's set to a higher sensitivity now.

Actually its no big deal as everyone has to remove their shoes when they go through security-more the wonder of someone who gets the beeps of metal below the chest, and beyond---then taken to the strip search room---been there, done that and gave the guards the t-shirt.
