I don't appreciate strangers calling me "Sir"

You must love customer service reps then =P

We live in a...semi-24/7 relationship I guess?  As in, it can become playtime anytime, but he gives me a cue when he wants it to be playtime.  That cue is "Call me Sir."

BootBlackBlast -> RE: Set Honorifics? (2/1/2008 7:52:59 PM)

See and this is the part of the kink world that my partner hates the most. She's bad enough with names to begin with and hates going to leather events and having to play "What do I call you again?" Especially at events where the name badges don't match the person's protocol who happens to be wearing the badge.

I don't mind what strangers call me. My partner calls me Sir, Blast, Bootblack, Jessica, Babygirl, or any other name she desires.

My boys call me Sir or Blast, occasionally they'll call me Jessica. I'm 27, Ma'am just doesn't ring true with me, but for those who find it most comfortable to use, I will generally allow it.

MadRabbit -> RE: Set Honorifics? (2/1/2008 8:01:58 PM)

I have her call me "slave" and lower case my name just to fuck with everyone.

(Serious answer : Sir is one of my protocols, but it's not so much a replacement of my name as much as it used in the context of common manners. "Yes, sir" "No, sir", etc.)

RedMagic1 -> RE: Set Honorifics? (2/1/2008 8:03:31 PM)

Whatever.

That too, but only after a morning of heavy drinking.

MissHarlet -> RE: Set Honorifics? (2/1/2008 8:10:22 PM)

Most people that know me call me LadyH or Miss H even in vanilla situations..... it goes back to the days I worked Renaissance Faires ..submissives call me the same thing unless they trying to capture my attention, then at times they will address me as mi'lady ... those that I have owned address me as MY Lady ... and that is by their choice not by anything I have directed.  It is what has been comfortable for those around me... Im not sure I have ever asked anyone to call me by a specific title. ...

If it were left to me, I'd hold a mirror up to his name and see how you would pronounce that  [:)]

LadyPact -> RE: Set Honorifics? (2/2/2008 6:32:01 AM)

With all of My past boys, I was always either Mistress, or Mistress <insert real name here>.  Sometimes Ma'am, in less formal settings, but very rare.  For My current sub, Mistress just didn't really fit, so I decided on m'Lady.  People have been calling Me "Lady Pact" for a few years now, so it just seemed to fit.

Start with the last letter and go left.

Ok I'll admit it, I've read tons o dynomar posts and never figured that out  [sm=ofcourse.gif].

Generally in my experience the D type picks the title, but I will not call a D type by a title until they are MY D type.

antipode -> RE: Set Honorifics? (2/3/2008 5:14:18 AM)

I don't use them, I think they are completely silly. "Sir" is what I am called in the store, and by suppliers, and "Master" is a degree. I tend insist that the sub or slave call me by my name.

I am Master, she is not permitted my given name.
Free Men/Women of are addressed as Master/Mistress, givenm names not used unless she has their specific permission.
If this offends them, she asks how they prefer to be addressed, and she complies with their preference.

kittengirl8 -> RE: Set Honorifics? (2/3/2008 7:00:59 PM)

CaliChick, I was thinking Chick-Fil-A before I saw you typed it too. Heh.

kitten feels smart, she figured out dnomyar the very first time she saw a post of his.

Obviously, as the sub, I have no honorifics, but I recall posting something a little while ago about "Titles". Once upon a time my Owner was "Master" by mutual choice. For the most part I prefer to say Sir when appropriate, Master when requested, or simply no name at all.

For some reason, I don't refer to many people by given names. (Tendency to say Hun instead... Though I try to avoid that with guys, especially Doms, since many have shown to... dislike that...)

Alright hun?

Dnomyar -> RE: Set Honorifics? (2/4/2008 6:23:22 AM)

I use to have Dom in front of my name. Most on here called me DR. I could never warm up to that title so I changed it.

DesFIP -> RE: Set Honorifics? (2/4/2008 6:56:40 AM)

No honorifics here. But we are fully integrated into each other's lives including offspring.  And both his and mine would wonder loudly at me calling him SirMasterDreadOverlord or some such. We do occasionally do so in play, on the rare occasion I'm not gagged.

whiteslavebitch -> RE: Set Honorifics? (2/4/2008 10:21:55 AM)

I am to call him MasterK at all times, unless we're in a vanilla setting, or if we're talking on the phone and I'm
in a location where it would not be appropriate.

Hmmm...did I call you 'sexy'?

LadyLynx -> RE: Set Honorifics? (2/5/2008 11:46:33 AM)

Only certain people I call Sir or Ma'am.  I have varying reasons of why I might not: one is I may like you but ethier feel to comfy with you and it doesn't seem appropriate,I might like you, but I don't feel that you have earned my calling you that.  (I hope that makes sense.

As for the term Master or Mistress.  I feel only a sub/slave who belongs to that particular person has the right to call that person, Master or Mistress.  And say if someone is known in the community as lets say...........Master Lion, then I refer to them as Lion, or their 1st name.

Only in lifestyle settings do I like being called Ma'am.  at the grocery store, it makes me want to look around for someone older. heh.  When I do evetually collar someone, being referred to as 'My Lady' would be great
