Ahh, i'd say the multi-implement kit would be superb score if you can get it cheaply. Since the kit is grounded (a real rarity in the U.S. for older kits; i don't know if the UK had different electrical wiring standards back then), it should be pretty good for play. If the flax insulation is in good shape, i'd just leave it... makes it all the cooler, IMO, since a lot of people nowadays don't even realize that used to be the norm. Some quack medical devices are really, really neat if you like old machines... i saw some kind of electrical "treatment" device on ebay UK a while back that had a marble face, beautiful brass inset controls, just a fantastic piece of workmanship... went for close to 300 pounds, IIRC. The Violet Ray kit that i bought was made (well, sold, at least) by Sears Roebuck, neat little engraved brass plaque, fabric wire wrap, but not grounded... gives a pretty good zap, although i've never tried a modern unit for comparison. Was strong enough to give me an electrical burn, at least... (using the metal probe to arc to some Christmas garland through a glass cup!)
