I had a german shepard who had bad orthapedic problems.   Not hip displasia, but other problems.

1000mg of Glucosamine and condroitin per day (available at your health food stores and pharmacies) did a great deal to help him.   He was also on rymadil (sp?) which worked wonders for him but was quite expensive.    I know there are several other things out there, but these are the two I have experience with and can vouch for.

Glad to hear that you have found a solution to the problems with your dog.  It was a good thing to get the blood work done as now you know your dog has a chronic condition (kidney issues).  I'm sure that the vet told you what to keep an eye on.   Good thoughts for you and your dog.

YesKajira, she told me to make sure he's not getting dehydrated. And I've given sparky plenty of opertunities to drink and tons of opertunities to go pee pee. so far he seems pretty happy.

he wouldn't stop licking my face laying in bed together this morning lol.

If you're in a house with a yard, consider a pet door. In any case, you have to face the fact that this is the sign you'll lose him soon.
