LadyEllen -> RE: SuperBowl Sunday...Any plans? Thoughts on the Events? (2/4/2008 5:12:27 AM)

Well, the live screening followed on from Match Of The Day 2 (that's real football btw) last night at 2250 UK time, so I thought I'd stick around and watch it. I watched the game that was played at our national football stadium a while back (the mud wrestling session - the pitch hadnt recovered even months after) and it was entertaining and I sort of thought I was starting to make some sense of the game. But instead of getting to see the game, I was treated to 30 minutes of utter guff masquerading as informed commentary, accompanied by over glitzy and pointless features on the teams; I learned nothing about the teams or their players except how nicely they can smile. Then elaborate ceremony for the teams entering the arena - great I thought, finally! But no, another ten minutes of waiting around. So at 2330 UK time, they kicked off. Then they stopped. Then they did some more, then they stopped again - long enough for more glitzy and pointless features on the teams. By midnight, 30 minutes after the first kick they'd actually played half that time; not sure how that makes much sense, but obviously it must. At that point it made more sense to go to bed. Anyway, being a Brit and picking the underdog I'm glad the Giants won. Its sort of like if Chelsea are playing - it doesnt matter who theyre playing, as long as Chelsea get beaten. E
