BoundForFun -> Profile Question (2/3/2008 6:45:20 AM)

How long is too long for a profile? What should be the core make-up of a profile? Should you include only BDSM involvement and experiance or should you place vanilla activities as well?
It feels like I written a book for a profile. I know mine can't be the longest ever, but it feels some of it is unnecassary.

RCdc -> RE: Profile Question (2/3/2008 6:46:54 AM)

The length of a profile is irrelevant, it's the content that makes or breaks it.

Yes, many folks will now go read your profile and you'll get plenty of attention.  Mission accomplished.

PrizedPosession -> RE: Profile Question (2/3/2008 6:47:42 AM)

Include anything you feel is necessary, or you could just do "Message me if you want to know."
But it should be the important things, that you think others will want to know. But in the end it's up to you.

Thank you so much for your words of wisedom..

takenbyjohnr07 -> RE: Profile Question (2/3/2008 7:00:13 AM)

i found that presenting myelf as a person first before you go into the fetishes and not listing my sexual desires attracted more of a type of person who was looking for a real relationship and not just to play. Of course i got those too, but most of the men were very respectful to me.

You should reflect you, real life, BDSM interests, goals.

MamaDomme1 -> RE: Profile Question (2/3/2008 7:03:32 AM)

I like to see a bit of what the person is like in their profile.  If it's all about their fetishes and desires, I figure they are a *do-me* and I pass.

Thank you for your reply

Think of what you want to accomplish. If you are trying to meet someone for a relashonship, think of it from their perspective. What is it about you that they might find interesting.

Reading your profile, and I think there's a lot that's good about it, you are especially looking to learn more.
Maybe a lot will say, "I want someone who's more experienced, or know's where he's at, what he wants," but saying up front that you're looking for friends and looking to learn might be best for you now.

I'm not sure it's a good thing to look for teachers, 'mentors'. Far better to just meet and socialize with folks who are in relationships, have skill and such. It's a smorgashboard out there, and you can sample and find out from other people's real live examples.

Gee, sounds like I gaver some really good advice. Now I'm going to look at our profile and see if I followed it!

John.......sarcasm becomes you..:)
To to OP , profiles are just a starting point. To belive what some one had typed about themselves, and take it at face value. would seem silly to me

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Profile Question (2/3/2008 8:29:19 AM)

There are way too many words in mine.  But, if a person writes to me and asks for something way off base, I know that they haven't taken the few minutes to read it, and I know not to bother with them.  (last week someone wanted suspension bondage!  from ME!  LOL!)

Justme696 -> RE: Profile Question (2/3/2008 8:32:57 AM)

IF people find it boring or to long, they are propably not the people you look for.

I don't have a choice, Jeff.  I'm riddled with it.

sexyred1 -> RE: Profile Question (2/3/2008 8:57:21 AM)

I find that no matter what you write, there are some who will not get it or do not want to get it.

They see a photo and write anyway or their own fetish/desire/needs are foremost in their minds, so they project that upon you and write to see if that projection will stick.

You can either delete them, or like me, craft a lovely reply back.

You know what else works?   Put a new picture of yourself for the avatar pic.... Holy shit... my profile was busy when I did that.....  You can't believe the new opportunities it created for me!!!   ok it was none..... but I was reaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyy popular for a day or two... I thought that was cool cause I was never popular in school.

LadyLynx -> RE: Profile Question (2/3/2008 9:12:03 AM)

OP,  I liked your profile, and if you were 8 yrs older, I wouldn't mind chatting you up[;)] There was just one itsy bitsy thing that I didn't care for in your profile: (well a combination of 2 really.) The fact that you are a relative newbie, and that you want (or seem to want.)2 pets. (now understand that I have nothing against newbies,after all I am still one myself. And I have nothing against poly.) But I think that for a long while you should concentrate on building your skills, and keeping 1 pet in line.  Of course considering how most males on this site have alot of problems even finding one, it may be a non issue.    You also mentioned that you have submitted. Is that still something you want to do from time to time? If it isn't then you should strike that experience from your profile.  Some subs have problems with their Doms switching. (only reason why I mentioned it, is because by your having it in your profile, it implies that you would do it again. and that might throw a prospective lady off. Not that you should not tell her.[;)])

I have a pretty long profile too. I put what I like in it, and if it seems obvious that a person who has written me hasn't read it, I will request that they do so, and test them. heh.

As long as it needs to be to say what needs to be said.  That will of course vary from one individual to another.

I'd suggest answering at least three basic questions in a profile.
Who are you?
What do you offer?
What do you seek?

quote:

Should you include only BDSM involvement and experiance or should you place vanilla activities as well?

That really depends on who you wish to attract.  Do only want someone interested in BDSM play?  Do want a well rounded relationship built on common interests?  What sort of person are you trying to attract, think about that and present your profile accordingly.  "Peacock" in a way that you think will best attract the sort of person you want to meet.
