Op; Nice profile imo. I edited a bit and sent you a copy on the other side. (just a bit of grammar and punctuation.)

Very interesting discussion. Profiles are like all personal things. They depend on you and your perspective at the moment you create them. Make yours as long as you like. If you feel the need to do so. Though you might want to save any rants or ramblings for a journal post and leave the profile to basic facts if you are worried about the length of it.

Mine on the other hand is quite short. After thinking about this discussion though I have decided I will add a few words to it but I am not going to fill out the long list of dislikes and likes for reasons that I stated on my profile. But that is what suits me. You must do what you think suits you best.

Have a great day everyone.

Yes, many folks will now go read your profile and you'll get plenty of attention.  Mission accomplished.

You know what else works?   Put a new picture of yourself for the avatar pic.... Holy shit... my profile was busy when I did that.....  You can't believe the new opportunities it created for me!!!   ok it was none..... but I was reaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyy popular for a day or two... I thought that was cool cause I was never popular in school.

Yeah but you have great pics in your profile, I always perv you when I see a new one because they are so fun.

If you can't get your point across in a couple of paragraphs I can't be bothered.

I would say that it might help to stand back and view your profile as if you were a perspective candidate and ask youself as you read your profile back, if you would be interested in this person.  What iformation in that profile helps me to make that decision, and on the other hand what information is there that I could do without.  You have to be critical and go with your gut feeling.  Go for information that is to the point, and conscise.  Leavet the fodder out for conversation later if it gets that far ...leave something to talk about!  That infomation that you leave in there should be there to  represent yourself in an appealing manner to others.  Don't give too much information because  it will either bore them or lull them  or  scare them due to the amount of information  and y'all haven't even talked yet, and there's the whole history laid out.  Take your time and be objective.span.jajahWrapper { font-size:1em; color:#B11196; text-decoration:underline; } a.jajahLink { color:#000000; text-decoration:none; } span.jajahInLink:hover { background-color:#B11196; }

JulieorSarah -> RE: Profile Question (2/3/2008 10:26:44 PM)

I'm writing this without reading your profiel, however my profile used to be long, detailed, and received few replies - when i asked a fellow CM-er it was suggested that many may think the reader had to meet all the info listed.

Also what you write (at first) is not necessarily what is read!  Overtime you learn to write with as little ambiguity as possible.  When I first came on this site thought some of the profiles were down write rude.  (DO NOT REPEAT DO NOT CONTACT IF YOU ....)

Now several months later, i struggle with the desire to commence many responses with - have you actually READ my profile?

but i digress
So now the profile is rather short.  It seems to pique interest, enough to attract those that are curious, or share my interest.  I too am very much a newbie, not  a life-styler, however it's very much a part of me.  My location and lack of transport seem to be the two biggest hurdles for thost that used to contact, that and the criteria that are deal breakers for me now form part of my profile.  As my experience broadens and deepens, i adjust the profile/journal.  It's ever evolving.

What ever you have now, wont be the same in a month or again in 3 months.

Good luck!

... everywhere I go, I always hear the same complaint.

"it's too long!"

I wouldn't be quite that harsh, but you should be concise and to the point. When reading a female sub's profile, I want to know something about her as a person and a submissive...but I don't need her life history and a recap of all her previous D/s relationships.

You want to give those looking at your profile a sense of who you are and what you're looking for...just enough to make someone curious to know more!
