I have tried a few when I was in my early 20s and had gained the freshman 15, and um, a little more. Basically, the unwanted and uneasy answer is that you have to eat less and move more often. Start a journal where you write down everything you put into your mouth, including liquids. At the end of the day look it over and see which foods are the worst offenders to your weight and general health, then eliminate or moderate them. You will be surprised by how much you eat unknowingly, too, which writing will reveal to you. Second, I recommend a good session of learning portion sizes. Today's portions are out of control. A typical restaurant dinner is big enough for two. A piece of meat should not be larger than your palm. Cheese is a big offender, as well as too much oil in and on everything. Instead of eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, try eating an english muffin with just the jelly. Usually when hunger strikes you are also actually just thirsty, so drink up some water. There is no way about it, you will feel hungry and uncomfy while loosing weight. Your body is a beautiful mechanism against femine, so it will always crave food to store away. If you are not hungry and moving about, you are not loosing weight. But only movement does nothing if you compensate for the lost calories later on and end up perfectly sculptured under two inches of fat. That is what I can think of right now to tell you, but moderation and a slow and gradual relearning of how to eat has helped me loose a lot of weight and get to my optimal level. It is an uncomfortable process, so I suggest also to get a buddy who can weigh you weekly and be a source of motivation. In any case, good luck.
