Since I'm new to this, I don't know all the lingo.

Someone tell me...is there a difference between slave and sub?  If so, what?

Hello StormSlave. In general it means what you and your partner decide.

You have to consider quantity and quality (intensity)...

In my LTR, my wife is submissive (traditional wife) and a sex slave. If I tell my wife to
go buy something for me, she will gladly oblige and offer suggestions for cost and such.
If I tell my wife to perform sexually, she shuts up and complies to the letter. I always thought
of my wife as a sub and she always thought of herself as a slave. We both agree that she is a sex slave.

The way I see it, from my point of view a slave is an obedient servant. My wife is more in the
mutually pleasing mode and not unconditional in the domestic service mode. As for sex? This is
where she finds the most pleasure in intensive and almost unconditional like submission.

That's the way things naturally evolved in the last 8 years. Personally speaking, labels do not help
anyone in understanding the other person's "real" experience into submission. I used to think
my wife just had a sex kink. After all this time, I have to admit it is not, it is really her nature,
her sexuality.

For others, it is different in intensity or in quantity (space time related). In long term you have
to adapt to life in general...(bills, pregnancy, young dependents, illness and the aging process).
There is fluctuation. You may start out as an "unconditional" slave and may evolve into becoming a
submissive traditional for a while, and then with time come back to a more intensity driven submission.

What is important, is keeping things fun and consensual. It is rare for LTR to exist for long when
the partners concentrate on what is displeasing and conflictive.

As I said, it only means what you both decide it means. "A rose by any other name..." RL.

as far as i know [which might not be very far!] a slave is making a full-time commitment whereas a sub can contract with her Dom to be sub only at agreed times or in agreed circumstances.  i adore the time that i am sub to my Lord but that still leaves me with a lot of time when i need to be in touch with my own power.  of course i have been given certain rules that i have agreed to observe all the time [like i am not allowed a sub of my own...i got into big trouble with that one!!]  but if i disagree with Him on anything outside of our D/s relationship i tell Him.....[and hope He doesnt remember next time i'm chained up!]
